Manchester United have recorded a massive breakthrough in their search for a holding midfielder after closing a deal with Real Madrid for Brazilian star Casemiro. Casemiro is Manchester United’s 4th signing in the 2022 transfer window. Erik Ten Hag had acquired the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez, and Christian Eriksen. Nevertheless, Man United’s midfield blunders were still evident.

Casemiro deal has been tipped as a potential game changer for the Old Trafford club. Led by John Murtough, the Red Devils have reportedly reached a full agreement with Real Madrid for Casemiro. The 30-year-old defensive midfielder will join the Red Devils this weekend as per Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United and Real Madrid are currently preparing contracts for the player. Real Madrid will receive €60m, including €10m add-ons.

A four-year contract is awaiting the player at Old Trafford with an option for a one-year extension.

Sources close to the Los Blancos club have revealed that the Red Devils have a jumbo wage package for Casemiro, which will make him one of the top earners at the club.

Casemiro has already told the club of his decision to accept Manchester United’s offer and has reportedly bid them farewell. He has also informed the club’s President Florentino Perez of his plan to join Manchester United. Casemiro’s response to Man United’s offer made the negotiation seamless.

Casemiro’s decision to join Manchester United without Champions League football is not a surprise. the Brazil international started from the bench when Real Madrid traveled to take on Almeria in their La Liga opener. This was a strong message from Coach Carlo Ancelotti that he is gradually becoming a surplus to requirement.

Ancelotti has described the midfield trio of Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, and Casemiro as “the Bermuda Triangle” at Real Madrid that hides the ball when it slips into it. This metaphor represented the importance and prominence of each of the three midfielders in the squad. Though still relevant, it appears that Casemiro’s dominance is beginning to diminish.

With a wealth of options at the midfield and the arrival of Aurelien Tchouameni, Casemiro must have fallen out of the pegging order.

Ancelotti still holds the Brazilian in high esteem, but a €60m offer was too attractive for him to be turned down, given the array of stars that can replace him. Casemiro still has three years contract with the Los Blancos but has decided to open a new chapter in his football career.

The Brazilian is Man United’s second midfielder signed by Ten Hag after Christian Eriksen. Hopes are high. Man United fans expect a more improved and solid team.

Ten Hag needs more breakthrough signings to lift the squad. The Red Devils face Liverpool in their next fixture. It is still unclear whether Casemiro will feature for the club against arch-rivals Liverpool on Monday, August 22.
