Manchester City entertain Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, May 4, 2024, as they aim to continue their push for a 4th consecutive unprecedented league title.
The Cityzens have been outstanding since the turn of the year, as they remain unbeaten so far in 2024.
Pep Guardiola’s side last fell to a defeat in normal time on December 6, 2023, losing 1-0 to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Manchester City have lost a competitive tie in recent weeks, after they were beaten by Real Madrid on penalties in their quarter-final affair in April 2024.
Anyway, following the halt of their challenge for another treble this campaign, Manchester City have the league and FA Cup title to battle for.
Arsenal appear to not be relenting in their pursuit of the title, having lost the crown to Manchester City last season.
However, the Gunners’ slip on April 14, 2024, against Aston Villa, might prove costly if Manchester City go on to win their remaining matches this term.
The Cityzens currently sit second on the Premier League table, with 79 points from 34 league matches, having played one game less than Arsenal, who sit top with 80 points.
The battle certainly has gone down to the wire, but the bookmakers are behind Manchester City, as they bid to win the Premier League crown for the fourth season in a row as earlier indicated.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have the capacity to down the title hopes of Manchester City
Pep Guardiola’s side know that the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers could be a potential banana peel, having been defeated by Wolves 2-1 in the reverse fixture played in September 2023.
Anyway, Manchester City will be banking on the fact that they have never lost at the Etihad to Wolverhampton Wanderers since October 2019.
Particularly, at this late stage of the season, they will also be looking to avoid any slip-up whatsoever.
In the last 18 meetings between the two teams, Manchester City have won 11, while Wolverhampton Wanderers have won 4, with the encounter ending in a draw on 3 occasions.
Gary O’Neil’s side are in a horrendous run of form, having won just 2 games in their last time matches across all competitions, losing 6 and drawing 2.
However, they are coming into the game against the Citizens on the back of a 2-1 home win over survival hopefuls Luton Town.
It will be interesting to see if they have the ability to reprise the feat which they did against Manchester City earlier this season.
