The 31-year-old Manchester City midfielder De Bruyne became the first player at the club to be placed among the top three of the men’s Ballon d’Or award, finishing behind winner Karim Benzema and Sadio Mane.

The Belgian midfielder secured a ‘podium finish’ after the voting set over the likes of Mohamed Salah of Liverpool, PSG’s star Kylian Mbappe and former Bayern Munich legend Robert Lewandowski at the award show in Paris.

Meanwhile, Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Santana entered with his wag Lais Moraes, 28, a day after he conceded the only goal against Liverpool in City’s 1-0 defeat on Sunday evening.

The 34-year-old Lewandowski was defeated in the Ballon d’Or contest but he managed to win the Gerd Muller award which recognizes the Polish striker who netted the most goals with Bayern and the national team during a single season.

The Catalans new signing and Barca’s No.9 occupant Robert Lewandowski recorded his best-ever scoring tally last summer.

The 34-year-old Gerd Muller award winner netted 50 goals for his former team Bayern Munich in all competitions; 35 of which landed in the Bundesliga campaign, 13 goals in the Champions League, and 2 in the DFL-Supercup, including the seven goals he scored with the Polish national team.

Upon joining Barcelona this summer, Lewandowski has since scored 14 goals in just 13 appearances for the Catalans.

In the same vein, the 32-year-old Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp, and his famous Brazilian model spouse Izabel Goulart, appeared in their beautiful outfits upon their arrival at the award show.

The Real Madrid goalie was the star of the Champions League final against Klopp’s Liverpool, as he managed to paddle his side to victory with some big saves.

However, the man of the day was the Real Madrid star Karim Benzema, who scooped his first-ever Ballon d’Or prize.
