This season, the Norwegian forward scored an impressive 36 goals, which is a new record in the history of Premier League.

The 22-year-old finished six goals ahead of Tottenham striker Harry Kane who managed to net 30 goals.

Meanwhile, Kevin De Bruyne, his teammate who was left out of the squad that played Brentford on Sunday, May 28, claims the Playmaker award for the most assists with 16.

Haaland is now the third player in Manchester City’s history to win the Premier League award, following Sergio Aguero’s 26-goal performance in 2014/15 and Carlos Tevez’s 20 goals in 2010/11.

Erling Haaland’s incredible feat this season

Haaland’s first season at City has been marked by an incredible haul of records and honors.

The Norwegian striker who is 22 years old has received three prestigious awards: Premier League Player of the Year, Premier League Young Player of the Year, and FWA Footballer of the Year.

Earlier this month, Haaland broke the record for the most goals scored in a single campaign by scoring his 35th goal of the league campaign against West Ham.

He surpassed the 34 goals scored by Andrew Cole and Alan Shearer in the 1993/94 and 1994/95 seasons, respectively. It’s worth noting that those seasons consisted of 42 matches per season.

In January, Haaland scored a hat-trick against Wolves, bringing his total number of home goals in the Premier League to 18. This is the highest number of goals any player has ever scored at the Etihad Stadium in a single season.

The Norwegian scored a total of 22 goals in the Premier League while playing at home, by the end of the campaign.

This season, Erling Haaland has scored a total of six hat-tricks, out of which four were in the Premier League.

His hat tricks prior to the Wolves match were scored in consecutive home games against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Manchester United.

He became the first player in Premier League history to score a hat-trick in three consecutive home games.

In addition, Haaland also broke the previous record for the fastest player to score four Premier League hat-tricks.

He achieved this feat in just 19 games, surpassing the previous record of 65 games held by Ruud van Nistelrooy.

During his speech on Thursday night, Haaland mentioned De Bruyne and emphasized that he couldn’t achieve this success without the support of his teammates.

De Bruyne has provided 16 assists this season, with eight of them going to Erling Haaland. This has helped Haaland set a new record for the most Premier League goals scored, with a total of 36.

He expressed his gratitude towards his team-mates by stating that he owes his success to them.

He specifically mentioned Kevin De Bruyne’s passes, which have been instrumental in his performance this year.

He said: “I would like to express my gratitude to the club’s staff and my fellow team-mates for their contributions in making this achievement possible.”

“If Manchester City plays well, the striker will score goals. As a striker joining the team, it was natural for me to expect to score goals, especially considering the number of goals they scored last year, although I am not sure of the exact figure.”

As we approach the end of the season with only the FA Cup and Champions League finals remaining, it’s worth noting that Haaland has impressively scored 52 goals across all competitions during his debut season at Manchester City.

The 22-year-old broke the record for the highest number of goals scored by a player at a Premier League club in all competitions, surpassing the previous records set by Mo Salah and van Nistelrooy who scored a total of 44 goals.

Kevin De Bruyne’s feat in winning the playmaker award

Kevin De Bruyne has been awarded the Playmaker of the Year Award for the third time.

The 31-year-old Manchester City veteran midfielder won the prize by once again providing the highest number of assists in the Premier League.

Kevin De Bruyne played a significant role in Manchester City’s third consecutive Premier League title and fifth in six years by contributing 16 assists this season.

His contribution was crucial in each of these accomplishments.

De Bruyne is the only player who has won the award multiple times.

He won it for the first time in the inaugural year of 2017/18 with 16 assists, and then again in 2019/20 with 20 assists, which is tied for the highest number of assists ever achieved in a single Premier League campaign.

He is fourth on the all-time list of Premier League assist-makers and in April he became the the fastest of the five players to reach 100 assists, hitting the milestone from just 237 appearances.

De Bruyne

De Bruyne surpassed Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, both of whom registered 11 assists each.

De Bruyne’s City teammate Riyad Mahrez also contributed 10 assists in the successful Premier League season.

We at futballnews congratulate Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne for their remarkable accomplishments and outstanding feats in the Premier League this season.
