Julian Alvarez of Manchester City appears to be a major target of several clubs in Europe, as they look to bolster their attacking department ahead of next season.

Alvarez joined Manchester City from River Plate for £14 million on January 31, 2022, and he has gone on to score 36 goals and provide 18 assists in 103 appearances for the Premier League champions.

Julian Alvarez has won every major trophy available to be won in his career thus far, and he was a member of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winning squad of Argentina.

Manchester City’s Asking Price For Julian Alvarez

Reports indicate that Manchester City have put a benchmark of £70 million as their asking price for any club interested in the striker.

Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain are apparently keen on signing Alvarez, who is also said to be desiring to play regularly as a central striker.

Julian Alvarez has rarely had the chance to feature in his preferred position for Manchester City with Erling Haaland being favored over him in that position.

Certainly, it wouldn’t be an easy task for the Argentine to displace Haaland from the striking position.

Moreover, Atletico Madrid also have their eyes on Alvarez but are more interested in a loan deal which the Cityzens are apparently not appealed by.

Reports also indicate that it looks unlikely that any of the three clubs will meet the £70 million asking price of Manchester City this summer.

Is Julian Alvarez Still Motivated To Remain At Manchester City?

Given the 24-year-old’s successes in recent years, it is uncertain if he is still motivated to stay put at the Etihad.

Some believe that since he has won it all at the club, it is now time for him to chase individual honours, to also keep his place in the national team of Argentina.

Julian Alvarez’s primary position is at center forward, but he can also play as a second striker and right winger.

Alvarez has made 225 club career appearances thus far, scoring 90 goals and providing 49 assists across all competitions.

Internationally, Julian Alvarez has made 29 appearances for Argentina, scoring 7 goals and providing 1 assist.

Based on Transfermkt’s valuation, the Argentine’s market value is about £76 million and he is seen as one of the best strikers in world football, although he hasn’t been able to fully delineate his brilliance at Manchester City.

Alvarez has won 1 FIFA World Cup, Copa America, and UEFA Champions League title.

Additionally, Julian Alvarez has won 2 Premier League titles, 1 FIFA Club World Cup, and 1 UEFA Super Cup.

Individually, the attacker was named the South American Footballer of the Year in 2021, following his stellar showing with his former club River Plate.

Alvarez is direct, quick, and has sublime control with his right foot. He often converts awkward chances.

Julian Alvarez is also a good link-up player, with the technique and vision to play quick passes and one-touch football.

Alvarez’s dribbling is also wonderful, with the striker also very hardworking off the ball, pressing and charging at opposition players.
