The future of Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi continues to be in the air having expressed the intention to leave the Catalan giant last season before changing his mind.
The Argentine striker will become a free agent soon as his contract with Barça ends in June 2021. He could however change his mind once he finds out who will govern the La Liga club after the next elections. He wants to know the future project and know first-hand what they have in store for him.
But that is not stopping him from being linked with hosts of top European clubs. Top on the list is English club, Manchester City. The Etihad outfit is drawing up plan to convince Messi to join the club. The noisy neighbour seems to have shown the most interest so far in taking him away.
According to Dean Jones, a Eurosport journalist, City wants to offer him to play in the Premier League. He further stated on his Ranks FC podcast that once his playing time in Manchester is over, the English club wants him to continue in the team that the City Group has in New York. This is expected to attract Messi to the club.
Messi would be attracted to the option of being able to continue the experience in the New York franchise and be able to live a stage in the American city, where his football stage would end.

Meanwhile, this is also a reunion with his former coach, Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard was one of the coaches that Messi actually shined under and they appeared to have firm understanding and flawless relationship.
It was also gathered that the City boss could be extending his stay at the club as he inches closer to penning a new contract. His current deal runs out in 2021.
It could be recalled that Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, reacted to speculation that linked the Barcelona captain with PSG, describing it as fake news.
It was reported that Paris Saint-Germain had already contacted Messi’s own father to begin negotiating from January.
