Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reacted to the club’s delay on deciding on his future.
The under-pressure gaffer endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign with Manchester United.
He led United to 8th place in the 2023-24 Premier League table – the club’s lowest finish in the English topflight in 38 years.
Under his watch, United recorded their poorest campaign in Europe, finishing bottom of their Champions League group to crashing out of the competition.
The team was also knocked out of the EFL Cup to mar an already worse domestic outing for ten Hag.
Throughout the campaign, the Dutchman would come under intense pressure as United’s dwindling fortunes showed no signs of abating.
Manchester United’s new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe was reportedly unimpressed with Ten Hag’s less-than-stellar run with reports the football investor could part ways with the Dutchman in the wake of his planned summer revamp.
Away from the disappointing second season with the Red Devils, Erik ten Hag was able to turn a corner at the tail end of the campaign.
He led United to 2024 FA Cup triumph over Manchester City at Wembley, winning his second trophy with the club in his first two seasons.
Nevertheless, uncertainties over his future had continued to mount with reports United are reviewing the Dutchman’s performance at the end of the campaign with a decision imminent.
It has been weeks since the club’s hierarchy began the said review and a decision has yet to be taken. According to The Sun, Erik ten Hag is frustrated by United’s delay on a decision on his future as he hopes to get to gears with his plans for the squad ahead of the next campaign.
Futballnews understands Erik ten Hag still has a year left on his contract with United but his future is still hanging on the balance pending the club’s decision after the review.
