Luis Suarez, who will be a free agent in January, gave an emotional farewell speech to his childhood team, Nacional de Montevideo on Sunday, 6th of November 2022.
Luis Suarez, 35, helped the team where he made his professional soccer debut in 2005 win the Uruguayan professional soccer league championship.
Luis Suarez, the Uruguayan forward returned to his former team in the summer and had a dream comeback after helping them win their third championship in the previous four years. Ironically, the Montevideo team defeated Liverpool, the namesake of the Merseyside powerhouse, to win the championship.
Luis Suarez is not expected to remain in his native country despite his significant success, the club has already made it known that he will say goodbye when his contract expires. He was allowed to address the club’s supporters as they celebrated their victory over the weekend.
The now-35-year-old sobbed as he added, “I’m not going to play [here] again, but I will come back to the club at some point. It’s goodbye.
“The moment has arrived, and I want to start by saying thank you for everything. As I already stated, I was returning because I wanted to and because of you [the fans].
“The fact that we are at a level where people talk about what Nacional’s fans have accomplished and each of you must continue to be proud of that is your achievement.”

Now that Suarez is approaching the end of his career and is looking for another club, it is unclear what his future may hold. The former forward for Ajax, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid will compete for his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Luis Suarez’s desire to play in Europe has reportedly been expressed in the past, but he has also long considered moving to Major League Soccer.
On the other hand, His former teammate and close friend of the striker Lionel Messi has also been mentioned in connection with a move to the United States on numerous occasions in the past, with David Beckham’s Inter Miami being one of the clubs interested in signing him.
After the current season, the Argentine’s contract with French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain expires, and following the World Cup, negotiations over his future are expected to begin.
Between 2014 and 2020, Messi and Suarez were extremely successful when playing together at Camp Nou. Before Suarez left for Atletico Madrid, they won four La Liga championships, the Champions League, four Copas del Rey, and a plethora of other medals together in Catalonia.
