Liverpool maintained their unbeaten run under Arne Slot as they secured a hard-fought win over Brentford.

It took only 13 minutes for the Reds to score the opener, with Luis Diaz racing them gallantly into the lead after receiving a well-delivered pass from Diogo Jota.

At half of the hour mark, Dominic Szoboszlai became the first player to go into the referees’ book, as he was shown a yellow card for a foul on Yoane Wissa.

In the 32nd minute, Christian Norgaard could have brought Brentford on level terms, but the Bees captain directed his header wide of the right-hand post after a dangerous ball was swung into the area by Bryan Mbuemo.

Ryan Gravenberch was also brandished a yellow card for a reckless challenge on Mathias Jensen.

Referee Stuart Attwell also dished out a yellow card to Christian Norgaard in the 40th minute for a foul on Diaz.

Right at the stroke of the 45th minute, Jensen was also cautioned by Referee Attwell, for a clumsy tackle on Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool Went Into The Break Leading Brentford

The opening half ended with Liverpool having a one-goal advantage, with Brentford needing to overturn the deficit.

The second period was highly combative, with both sides going neck and neck at each other to achieve their respective targets.

Brentford’s goalie Flekken, alongside Liverpool’s Alisson, had to earn their pay, as they produced top saves across spells in the second half.

In the 47th minute, Bees goalkeeper Mark Flekken did well to parry a good header from Andrew Robertson away for a corner.

Five minutes before the hour mark, defender Nathan Collins powered a header toward Liverpool’s goal, but Allison Becker was equal to the task.

Arne Slot’s side saw the ball hit the bar in the 61st minute as a well-delivered cross into the box by Alexander Arnold crashed into the frame of the post.

Ibrahima Konate tried to head the ball into the back of the net, but his follow-up effort was straight at Flekken.

Four minutes after the hour mark, Flekken also made a sharp save to deny Liverpool after Luis Diaz struck the ball low and hard toward the bottom corner.

Thomas Frank made two changes for Brentford in the 66th minute, introducing Mikkel Damsgaard and Fabio Carvalho for Keane Lewis-Potter and Mathias Jensen respectively.

Mohamed Salah Sealed The Win For Liverpool

First-half goal scorer Lewis Diaz turned provider in the 70th minute, as he teed up Mohamed Salah after combining with Mac Allister.

Salah basically chipped the ball over an on-rushing Flekken, as he registered his name on the score sheet for the second consecutive league game this season.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot brought on Cody Gakpo for Luis Diaz in the 72nd minute, while Conor Bradley replaced Trent Alexander Arnold.

Diogo Jota was also withdrawn for Darwin Nunez, while Brentford made one alteration, taking off Vitaly Janelt for Frank Onyeka.

The Reds could have extended their lead 9 minutes before the expiration of the affair, as substitute Cody Gakpo cut into the area from the left flank and struck a venomous effort from 20 yards out.

His shot hit the body of Irish defender Collins before clipping the crossbar, and out for a corner.

The resultant corner was headed over the post by Ibrahima Konate. Harvey Elliot also came on for Liverpool in the 83rd minute, entering the fray for Salah.

The Reds final change was done in the 1st minute of 5 minutes added time, with Wataru Endo being substituted in for Ryan Gravenberch.

Cameroon international Bryan Mbuemo was the last player to be booked in the game, and he was shown a yellow card for bundling over Alexis Mac Allister.
