Lucas Hernandez is set to join Paris Saint-Germain from Bayern Munich for a fee of €48–50 million.
It was reported that Germany’s giant Bayern Munich sold French defender Lucas Hernandez to Paris Saint-Germain after he failed to sign a new contract.
The move to Paris Saint Germain makes him the most expensive player alongside Robert Lewandowski in Bayern Munich history.
Bayern Munich are looking forward to replacing Lucas Hernandez with Kim Min Jae. Kim Min Jae is about to join Bayern Munich when the club activates his buyout clause.
Paris Saint-Germain are expected to announce Lucas Hernandez as a new player on June 30, 2023.
Lucas Hernandez is already in Paris to finalize the details of his contract. The contract will see him play for Paris Saint-Germain until June 2026.
The French defender will join Inter Milan’s Skriniar as the second defensive addition this summer.
Lucas Hernandez, who had only one year left on his contract, is capable of playing as a left back and also as a center back.
His versatility will be welcomed by Paris Saint-Germain. He made only 11 appearances last season in all competitions due to the injury he suffered in the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He has won four Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League in 2020 with Bayern Munich. He also won the World Cup in 2018 with France.
Paris Saint-Germain are looking forward to rebuilding their project and bolster their strength in order to compete for the Champions League trophy next season.
In conjunction with the official Lucas Hernandez announcement, Paris Saint-Germain are also planning on announcing Luis Enrique as the club’s new manager.
However, Paris Saint-Germain Ultras are not ready to welcome the player to the club due to his links to the club’s deadly rival, Olympic Marseille.
The Paris Saint-Germain fans haven’t forgotten he was part of the Bayern Munich team that stopped Paris Saint-Germain from winning the 2020 Champions League title.
