Liverpool F.C has become a force in the Premier League due to the caliber of players they have as well as the mastermind of Jurgen Klopp. Their attack force is deadly and can wreak havoc on teams but Klopp feels Liverpool need to make more signings.
So far in the transfer window of this summer, it appeals like things are not going the way of Liverpool boss— Klopp.
He expects Liverpool to risk more in their pursuit of a midfielder to solidify the team. As the window is closing up, things are getting quite tense at Anfield.
Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho, and Calvin Ramsay are the only signings Liverpool has this summer. Darwin Nunez, an Uruguayan striker, is likely to be a first-team regular while the other teenagers, might be used as backups.
Note that Liverpool signed Nunez in June 2022 for a transfer fee worth up to €100 million (£84 million) including add-ons.
Last season at Fulham, Carvalho had an impressive start to the 2021–22 season, scoring three goals in his first five matches as Fulham returned to the Premier League. As a result, Carvalho was awarded the EFL Young Player of the Month for August 2021.
Carvalho agreed to sign for Premier League club Liverpool in May 2022 for a reported fee of £5 million, potentially rising to £7.7 million with add-ons. The transfer became official on 1 July and Carvalho was officially unveiled two days later.
Calvin Ramsay moved to Premier League club Liverpool in June 2022. He signed a five-year contract with the club for an initial fee of £4.2m.
When asked about Liverpool’s transfer policy, Liverpool’s manager had this to say:
“From time to time, I would be ready to risk a bit more but I don’t decide that and that’s fine,” Liverpool boss Klopp said.
“We try everything until the deadline.”
Klopp was not overly happy when he was asked if he has been adequately backed by owners Fenway Sports Group.
He said: “What I don’t like is if I say now ‘I’m not sure’ then you make a big thing of it. What does it mean ‘backed’?
“Is it always easy? No. Do we discuss this kind of things in public? Of course not.”

Liverpool has had quite a staggering start in this new season. One win, one loss and two draws is unlike the runner-up of the previous league season.
The injuries to some Liverpool players are blamed for the poor form of the team. However, Curtis Jones, Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Ramsay are all close to returning to match fitness. Things are expected to return to top form after these players take their place in the squad.
“There’s still time but when it’s over and whether someone signs or not, I’ll be really happy about it because we can stop thinking about it and just focus on the squad and team we have.” Klopp reveals.
“The closer we get to the last minute, the more unlikely it gets. We are not out but it’s really difficult.”
Jurgen Klopp wants Liverpool to be more proactive in getting a midfielder before the end of the transfer window. The transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Thursday, 1st September 2022.
