Paris Saint Germain has concluded the ongoing negotiations between the club and the former football star of FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi.

Khalid bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the brother of the owner of French Ligue 1 club, Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed on Twitter that the negotiation between the club and Messi’s representatives are over.

This means that PSG are set to announce Lionel Messi as the club’s new signing less than a week after Barcelona confirmed that the 34-year-old Argentine football star could no longer stay at the club.

Messi’s contract talks between him and FC Barcelona collapsed due to financial complications at the Spanish club even though the Argentine football icon had accepted a 50 percent pay cut.

The football star who spent 21 years at Barcelona has been without a club since July 1, 2021. He ran out of contract with Barca when he was representing Argentina in Copa America.

Despite the bad news that he was out of contract, he went ahead to help Argentina to win the Copa America for the first time in his football career.

After the tournament, he and his family flew to Miami on holiday before he flew back to Barcelona to seal a new deal with the Spanish club. Unfortunately for him, he was denied access to Barca training ground.

Hence, he traveled to Ibiza for more holiday time. Before he could realize what was happening, the big news broke on Thursday that he would no longer stay in Spain.

Afterward, it was announced that PSG are willing to sign him for free. They are ready to offer Messi a two-year deal which would see the Argentine football icon earn £25 million per year.

“Negotiations are officially concluded, there will be an announcement later #Messi,” Al-Thani posted on Twitter.

With this tweet, the possibility that Lionel Messi is heading to France this summer is very high. The world of football is waiting for the big announcement any moment from now.

Meanwhile, reports in France claimed that PSG would have to sell players like Ander Herrera, Mauro Icardi, and Abdou Diallo if Lionel Messi signs for the French Ligue 1 club this summer. This is necessary to give the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner more room in coach Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.
