Lionel Messi and FC Barcelona are reportedly on the verge of agreeing on a new deal that will see the 33-year-old Argentine footballer play the next two seasons at the club.
His potential move to MLS will be a dream come true for the footballer who has once said he wished to play in the American league someday in his football career.
According to reports, the new contract could earn Lionel Messi about €35 million per year for the next four years including his potential two seasons in MLS.

According to @verobrunati new Messi contract is 60m€ before taxes, so 35m€ approx after taxes.
So Messi has cut 53m€ from previous salary.
But MOST OF ALL:
till 2023 at Barcelona, and till 2025 at Inter Miami! https://t.co/AoU4E8VEib
By the time his two seasons’ potential stay in the MLS is over, the Argentine football star would have been close to 38-year-old which might be a good age to retire from football after about 21 years in the game.
Afterward, he is expected to return to Barcelona, this time around, not just as a footballer but in a global ambassador role at the club which would make him indirectly a part of the club’s executive.
If this report is anything to go by, Lionel Messi who started his senior football career at Barcelona in 2005, is expected to remain at the club for the rest of his illustrious career.
Recall that the new president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta has always insisted that Lionel Messi would remain the player of the club despite a series of speculation linking him with a move out of the club.
His persistent insistence that the record 6 time Ballon d’Or winner would remain at the club, helped to douse the tension between Messi and the club. Recall that after the 2019-2020 season, Messi wrote to the club to inform them that he wanted to leave with a season left on his contract.
After a series of back and forth, the Argentina international was convinced to stay for the 2020-2021 season. Throughout the just-concluded season, Barcelona were not able to reach an agreement with the club’s talisman.
He has less than three weeks on his contract with Barcelona and if the reported ten-year deal is not sealed anytime soon, the legendary football star would be left without a club on June 30, 2021.
In a recent statement made concerning Lionel Messi’s contract with Barcelona, the club’s president, Laporta disclosed that the contract talks between Barcelona and the representatives of Lionel Messi are “going well”.
He however added that the contract talks between the two parties are yet to be finalized. But latest reports claimed that the deal would be sealed in the coming days.

Barça are ‘confident’ to complete the agremeent after positive talks.
Agüero ofc… but also Wijnaldum, new signings appreciated by Messi.
Lionel Messi is currently with Argentina’s national team preparing for the Copa America which will kick off on June 13, 2021.
