LeBron James was not able to help Los Angeles Lakers qualify for the 2021-2022 NBA playoffs as they finished as low as 11th in the Western Conference, but that would not stop James from celebrating Liverpool’s success this season.

Recall that the 2021-2022 season was Los Angeles Lakers’ 74th season in the National Basketball Association (NBA) and one of the worst in the history of the club.

The season was so bad for the American basketball club that they had to sack their head coach Frank Vogel and they are currently hunting for a new head coach.

LA Lakers starman, LeBron James managed an average of 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 56 games throughout the 2021-2022 season which did not help the club to have a better season.

Talking about Liverpool’s success, the Premier League club are currently contending for the Premier League title. They are occupying the second spot, a point behind second-placed Manchester City.

Aside from that, they beat Chelsea in February 2022 to win the 2021-2022 EFL Cup. They are on the verge of winning the FA Cup this season as they are scheduled to play Chelsea in the final of the tournament on May 14, 2022.

To crown it all, on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, Liverpool traveled to Spain to take on Villarreal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final. During the first half of the tie, Villarreal gave Liverpool a huge scare as they scored two goals to cancel out Liverpool’s 2-0 victory in the first leg of the tie.

Unfortunately for the resilient Spanish team that knocked out Juventus and Bayern Munich from the tournament this season, Liverpool regrouped in the second half to score three goals and missed a couple of other goalscoring opportunities.

At the end of the thrilling encounter, Liverpool beat Villarreal 3-2 and knocked out the Spanish team 5-2 on aggregate to book a place in the UEFA Champions League final which has been scheduled to take place in Paris, France on May 28, 2022.

After the victory, LeBron James took to Twitter to celebrate Liverpool’s qualification for the UEFA Champions League final. “PARIS HERE WE COME!!!!!!!”, the basketball superstar tweeted on Tuesday night, May 3.

As if that was not enough, the Liverpool superfan took to his Instagram story to post a picture of himself wearing Liverpool kits with a big smile on his face. In the caption, the basketball legend wrote: “MOOD!!!” tagging Liverpool and added LFG which stands for Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool football club.

Why is LeBron James so happy about the success of Liverpool?

Over the years, LeBron James has proven that he is a big fan of Liverpool football club. But the basketball legend is not just a fan of the club, he has a huge stake in the club.

LeBron James took his love for Liverpool to the next level in 2011 when he decided to buy a 2 percent stake in Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool. Then, the 2% stake is worth around $6.5 million.

According to Forbes, due to the consistency of Liverpool in major tournaments, the value of the club is now around $4.1 billion. Based on the figures for the 2019-2020 season, Liverpool generates around $619 million per year which could have been more at the time of publishing this report. Based on the figures above, LeBron James has made nothing less than $44 million on his 2% stake as of 2020.

Hence, the more successful Liverpool get in the world of football, the more money LeBron James makes from his investment in the club. So, whenever, Liverpool win a game, the NBA legend doesn’t just celebrate as a fan, he celebrates as an investor.
