Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo appear to be leading the charge of Barcelona for the 2024/25 Spanish La Liga campaign.

The Spanish duo look to be fired up for the new season, as the Catalan giants hunt for success this term.

Yamal and Olmo combined to hand Barcelona their 3rd league win this campaign, as they came from behind to defeat Rayo Vallecano 2-1.

Unai Lopez had initially put the home side ahead in the 9th minute before Pedri and Dani Olmo netted for Hansi Flick’s side in the 60th and 82nd minute respectively.

The 2024/25 season is expected to be intense and competitive, as clubs have made necessary reinforcements to aid the term.

Dani Olmo

Barcelona secured the services of Olmo from RB Leipzig on August 9, 2024, for a fee of €55 million.

However, the Blaugrana side couldn’t register the attacker until August 26, 2024, because they did not have the spare funds within the Spanish top-flight’s strict financial rules.

How Did Barcelona Register Olmo?

Thankfully for the side, a long-term injury suffered by Andreas Christensen freed up cap space to register new additions.

Article 77 of La Liga’s Regulations for the Preparation of Budgets gives room for clubs to exceed their spending limit in the event a player in the squad is ruled out for a substantial period.

Barcelona have sent medical reports to La Liga detailing that an Achilles problem will sideline Christensen for up to four months.

This has allowed them to use 80% of the former Chelsea man’s salary towards registering another player in the meantime.

Dani Olmo wasted no time in making his impact felt at Barcelona, and it is expected that he will go on to achieve exploits at the club.

Olmo, who was previously with Barcelona during his youth days, had a swell time at RB Leipzig, accentuating his brilliance for 4 years, having joined the club in 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb for a fee of €34.2 million.

The Spanish international made 148 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals and providing 34 assists in all competitions.

His stock rose during the 2024 European Championship, where he assisted Spain to win the tournament, scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in 6 appearances.

Dani Olmo is known for his versatility in the attacking department alongside his potency in front of goal.

Definitely, Barcelona are delighted to have him and will be praying that Olmo’s career isn’t hampered by injury.

Lamine Yamal

Lamine Yamal is also an academy graduate of the Catalonia-based club and he made his debut for the club on April 29, 2023.

The 17-year-old has been stellar for Barcelona, making 53 appearances for the side, scoring 8 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions.

Yamal has been tipped for greatness and Blaugrana supporters across the globe are hoping that he fulfills his potential.

Lamine Yamal is seen as one of the best youngsters currently in football and is one of the favorites to win the 2024 Golden Boy Award.

His qualities are not in doubt and he is a huge prospect for the now and future. Barcelona supporters are hoping that he grows under the right guidance and they will be keen to see if he is not another flash in the pan.

Yamal also excelled at Euro 2024, with his brilliance earning him the Young Player of the Tournament award, as he assisted Spain in winning the tournament.

Lamine Yamal’s breathtaking strike against France in the semi-finals was also named the Goal of the Tournament.

Yamal made 7 appearances at the 2024 European Championship, scoring 1 goal and providing 4 assists in all competitions.

Barcelona Fans Are Hoping That Dani Olmo And Lamine Yamal Will Be Able To Guide Them To Success

Barcelona fans will be banking on the brilliance of Dani Olmo and Lamine Yamal to guide them to success, in what should be a grueling season ahead.

The Spanish side ended the 2023/24 season trophyless, and they will have their sights on winning silverware this campaign.

Hansi Flick’s side currently occupy the summit of the Spanish La Liga, with 9 points from 3 matches.

However, the Catalan giants are expected to face tough competition for the top-flight title, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid all ably reinforcing their squads this summer.

Los Blancos, who are defending Champions of the La Liga added more firepower to their set-up, with French star Kylian Mbappe joining the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint Germain this summer.

Los Colchoneros have also acquired several stars, including defender Robin Le Normand, who helped Spain win Euro 2024, and 2024 Copa America champion Julian Alvarez from Manchester City, amongst others.
