The brother of Kylian Mbappe, Ethan Mbappe, has made his PSG Debut at the age of 15 two days after his elder brother, Kylian, made it to the second World Cup final in less than five years with France.
Ethan Mbappe played as a midfielder for the Ligue 1 giant, featuring alongside known names on the PSG lineup, such as Sergio Ramos, Marco Verratti, and Renato Sanches.
Taking on Paris FC in a club friendly at PSG’s training center, Ethan Mbappe did not start the match. He came on as a second-half substitute in the 60-minute friendly.
The Ligue 1 champions ran out 2-1 winners against their fellow Paris-based club, with Nordi Mukiele and 18-year-old Ismael Gharbi scoring.
After the game, the teenager wrote on Instagram: ‘Very excited for my debut in the pros.’
Ethan Mbappe joined PSG from AS Bondy in 2017 before signing a new three-year contract with the club in June 2021.
He made his European debut in September for the U19s, where they beat Italian side Juventus.
In October, he made his Uefa Youth League debut against Maccabi Haifa.
Meanwhile, his brother, Kylian Mbappe has been prolific for France in the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Kylian Mbappe is currently a joint-highest goal scorer in the tournament.
He has scored five goals so far in the competition, same with his PSG teammate Lionel Messi who also has five goals.
The two PSG teammates will clash in the final of the 2022 World Cup on Decmeber 18 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar.
While Kylian Mbappe will be looking for his back-to-back World Cup trophy, Lionel Messi will be looking for his first World Cup trophy as he plays his final World Cup game for Argentina.
Ethan Mbappe will now remain in the spotlight after his first senior appearance for PSG as football fans keep their fingers crossed to see whether he will match his brothers’ strides in the game.
Born in Montreuil, Seine-Saint-Denis, Mbappé was raised in a footballing family, with brother Kylian and adopted brother Jirès Kembo Ekoko both having professional footballing careers. Their father is Cameroonian and their mother is Algerian.
Ethan followed in both of his older brothers’ footsteps by joining local side AS Bondy in 2015. After two years with AS Bondy, Mbappé joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain in 2017, in the same transfer window that saw the club bring in his brother Kylian on loan. He scored on his debut for the under-12 team.
He signed a new three-year contract with the club in June 2021.
Mbappé was called up to the France under-16 team in November 2021
Unlike his brother Kylian, a forward known for his lightning-quick pace, Ethan is a technical, left-footed midfielder.
In January 2022, Ethan was involved in a minor road accident, after the car he was in was struck by a drunk driver. He did not suffer any major injuries according to reports.
