Kylian Mbappe has revealed that he has “always” wanted to represent France at the Olympics, although the decision is not his to make.
Mbappe in a recent interview expressed that his desire hasn’t changed, tagging playing in the mundial a “dream”.
Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, shared that if his wishes aren’t granted he will not be displeased or infuriated.
The capital of France, Paris, will be the host city for the 2024 Olympics and the epic tournament has been slated to go down from July 26, 2024, to August 11, 2024.
Alongside the host city of Paris, matches will also be played in Bordeaux, Décines-Charpieu (near Lyon), Marseille, Nantes, Nice, and Saint-Étienne.
The men’s team are restricted to under-23 players (born on or after January 1, 2001) with a maximum of just 3 overage players allowed.
France have won gold via football at the Summer Olympics just once, and it was in 1984, with Les Blues defeating Brazil 2-0 in the final.
Meanwhile, the women’s teams have no restrictions, and players of various age groups can participate in the competition.
The Olympics is a gigantic showpiece, possibly the only competition that can rival the supremacy of the FIFA World Cup.
Football is arguably not the biggest sport in the Olympics, with notable sports like Gymnastics, Swimming, and Track and Field said to be rated higher.
Kylian Mbappe at the Olympics
Speaking on his dream of playing at the Olympics, Kylian Mbappe said: “I always wanted to play at the Olympics and my desire has not changed”.
“If I play in the Olympics then it will be a dream, but if I’m not allowed to, then I will do as I’m told. The decision is still up to one person and they haven’t told me yes or no”.
Mbappe is gradually winding down to his culminating days in Paris, although the Frenchman has indicated that he hasn’t lifted the lid on his future.
“I have still not announced anything on my future as I’ve nothing to announce”.
“I’ve always said that when I have something to announce, I’ll do it as a man”.
However, the France national team captain made it known that his future would be decided before the European Championships that will take place from June 14, 2024, to July 14, 2024.
Mbappe has netted 38 goals and provided 8 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions this campaign.
The 25-year-old is Paris Saint Germain’s all-time top scorer with 250 goals in 297 appearances across all competitions.

He is expected to be in action on Saturday, March 23, 2024, when France play against Germany in an international friendly, done to prepare both teams for the 2024 European Championships.
