Kylian Mbappe returned to France training on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, after breaking his nose during Les Blues’ opening Euro 2024 encounter against Austria on Monday, June 17, 2024.

Mbappe was pictured wearing a protective bandage during the session to aid his recovery, whilst also initially seen training alone.

Kylian Mbappe’s fitness for France’s 2nd group game against the Netherlands remains uncertain, in what could be a big blow for Didier Deschamps’ side if he is confirmed absent for the fixture.

The French Football Federation had previously expressed that another update on Mbappe’s fitness will be issued on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

However, there has been no statement or feedback from the FFF, with fans still waiting to receive an update on the footballer’s availability for the clash against the Netherlands.

Mbappe was withdrawn in the late stages of the encounter against Ralf Ragnick’s Austria, following a shoulder collision with defender Kevin Danso after an aerial challenge.

Kylian Mbappe’s nose was subsequently confirmed to have been broken at Dusseldorf Hospital before he rejoined his teammates in camp.

Following the incident, the FFF released a lengthy statement indicating that a protective mask would be made for Mbappe.

The 25-year-old also got his name taken down into the referee’s book, as he was handed a yellow card for returning to the pitch and sitting down, consequently causing the game to be paused.

Austrian Defender Danso Apologizes To Mbappe Over Role In The Injury

Moreover, defender Danso, whose collision with Mbappe resulted in the broken nose took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to wish the Real Madrid man a “good recovery” and apologized for his role in the injury.

Meanwhile, Adrien Rabiot appears to be calming the nerves of the French fans, as he allayed fears that the footballer would be out for an extended period.

Speaking in a presser ahead of the game against the Netherlands on Friday, June 21, 2024, Rabiot said: “When we talk about Kylian Mbappe’s broken nose, I do not think it is the end of the world. He can recover very fast.

“I also understand that he is not officially ruled out. So, things are not yet confirmed.

“We have an exceptional group of players, so I am not going to complain. 

“But, I am not going to hide my feelings either – we all want him to play [against the Netherlands on Friday].”

Kylian Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint Germain expires on June 30, 2024, and he will afterward officially become a Real Madrid player on July 1, 2024, after his dream move to the Spanish side was confirmed on June 3, 2024.

Mbappe has made 368 club appearances thus far in his career, scoring 283 goals and providing 124 assists in all competitions.

Internationally, the former AS Monaco man has made 80 appearances for France, scoring 47 goals and providing 34 assists.

Kylian Mbappe is yet to score in the European Championship since he began playing in the tournament, first representing France in the 2020 edition played in 2021.

He would certainly have his eyes on penning his name on the score sheet in Euro 2024, whilst also looking to help France win the only international trophy he is yet to win in his career, having won the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and the UEFA Nations League in 2021.

France play against Poland in their final Group game on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, after facing the Netherlands on Friday, June 21, 2024.
