Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has made it clear that the French club was not happy with the behavior of Real Madrid over their interest in Kylian Mbappe.

Recall that in most parts of the 2021 summer transfer window, Kylian Mbappe who still has a season left on his contract with PSG tried all he could to leave the French side, to no avail.

He has always dreamed of playing for Real Madrid and the Spanish giants are very much interested in bringing him to Spain. In the last transfer window, Real Madrid made three attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe but PSG kept turning down the offers.

According to the French club, the first two offers Real Madrid made for the services of the 22-year-old French striker were not up to the expectation of the French side.

Leonardo confirmed recently that the third offer did not arrive at the club until the transfer window closed on August 31, 2021.

In an interview with a French television network, Canal Plus, Leonardo insisted that Kylian Mbappe could extend his stay at the French side before his current contract with the club expires on June 30, 2022.

“The fact that he’s staying, that was the only thing that could happen,” Leonardo said.

“We never thought about doing all this without Kylian. We were not happy with the behavior of Real Madrid

“We were clear about the offer they made. It was not enough from our point of view. It was less than what we paid.

“As for their last offer, it never arrived…

“I don’t see Kylian leaving at the end of this season.

“Mbappe’s relationship with PSG is deep. I don’t think anyone here sees the future without him.”

Days after the 2021 summer transfer window closed, the speculation was that Kylian Mbappe would sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid in January.

There is a clause in his current contract with PSG that reportedly permits him to do so with any other club of his choice and Real Madrid looks like the most likely candidate.

If that happens, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner would leave PSG for Real Madrid for free during the 2022 summer transfer window.

Meanwhile, despite the transfer speculations and his unwillingness to extend his contract with PSG, Kylian Mbappe is still giving the French side his very best.

So far this season, the French international has scored four goals and provided 2 assists in PSG’s five French Ligue 1 games. He is expected to lead PSG to face Club Brugge at 20:00 today, September 15, 2021.
