Kylian Mbappe may be a world-class player but that does not mean he will not have bad days as other players on the pitch.
PSG fans saw another goalless contribution from the French forward in the 3-1 victory against Stade Rennais last weekend.
Mbappe, 24, is currently PSG’s leading all-time goalscorer with 215 goals, but lately, he has failed to find the back of the net.
This is the longest run without a goal for the former Monaco forward since 2018 – where he failed to score in 5 matches around April-May 2018.
The last time Kylian Mbappe scored for PSG was against Borussia Dortmund on September 19 in the Champions League.
Also, Luis Enrique has backed struggling Mbappe after the Frenchman was criticized in the media for his lack of goals recently.
The PSG boss also insisted that the Frenchman is human after all and is not above experiencing a purple patch.
Enrique also claimed that purple patches are very normal for every footballer following his recent goal drought.
Kylian Mbappe, on the other hand, has already netted 8 goals this season despite not scoring in PSG last four matches.
Kylian Mbappe is also believed to be nursing an ankle injury he suffered during the 4-0 win over Olympique de Marseille.
The Frenchman did miss a golden opportunity as his scoring ‘dry spell’ persisted in the Ligue 1 match against Stade Rennes.
In that same match, the 24-year-old missed a fine chance by shooting wide despite having a wide-open net waiting to embrace the ball.
The Frenchman will surely bounce back, that we at Futballnews can confirm, this struggle will only last for a while and he’ll be back.
