    Kylian Mbappe beat Lionel Messi to emerged as the winner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot after becoming the highest goal-scorer in the tournament.

    The Paris Saint-Germain forward scored a record 9 goals in the tournament to emerged as the highest goal scorer beating the likes of Lionel Messi to win the award.

    Mbappe went into the finals of the 2022 World Cup final with five goals from the group stages to the semifinals. The Golden Boots Award was more of a contest between him and Lionel Messi, who had the same number of goals going into the final.

    Both players were on top of their game in the final. Lionel Messi opened the scoring for Argentina from the penalty spot before completing his brace in the 108th minute.

    Kylian Mbappe also opened the scoring for France via a penalty kick, bagged his brace with a powerful volley 72 seconds later, and then went on to score his hat-trick in the 123rd minute, scoring from a spot kick again. He became the first player to score a hat-trick in a World Cup final since Geoff Hurst achieved the feat in 1966.

    While Lionel Messi bagged 8 goals in the tournament, with 3 goals in the final, Kylian Mbappe bagged 9 goals with four goals in the final.

    Lionel Messi wins Adidas Golden Ball Award

    Apart from securing Argentina’s first World Cup trophy after 36 years, Lionel Messi bagged the Adidas Golden Ball award. He has been instrumental in Argentina’s journey to the World Cup final.

    Lionel Messi became the first player to score in every round of the FIFA World Cup and deserves his Golden Ball award to add to his first 2022 FIFA World Cup trophy.

    After helping the team bounce back from Saudi Arabia loss to secure successive wins over Mexico and Poland. Messi helped Argentina emerge as group winners. He scored in every round in the knockout stages.

    Messi opened the scoring against Australia in the round of 16. Scored against Netherlands in the quarterfinal, and also scored against Croatia in the semifinal.

    Against France in the final, Lionel Messi bagged a brace on a thrilling 3-3 draw. He also scored his penalty in the shootouts to win the trophy for Argentina.

    Other Award Winners

    Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez won the Golden Gloves Award after his great contributions to the squad.

    Emiliano Martinez kept clean sheets against Poland, Mexico and Croatia. He also saved a penalty in the shootouts with France to help Argentina secure a 4-2 win and also saved a penalty in the final to win the World Cup trophy for Argentina.

    Another player who bagged an award in the tournament was Enzo Fernandes of Argentina. Fernandez bagged the Young Player of the tournament award after his incredible showing for the Albiceleste.

    The 21-year-old Benfica midfielder started all matches for Argentina and scored a goal for the team, and provided an assist. He was instrumental in the team’s dominant display throughout the tournament, including the final against France.
