Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp has said that star player, Mohammed Salah is desperate to claim the golden ball award for the third consecutive season.

Salah netted a brace against Brighton on Wednesday in a 3-1 victory that gave the champions 92 points this season.

The Egyptian international won the past two Premier League Golden Boots, sharing last season’s honour with Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Speaking at a press conference after the game, the manager said he is a striker, and it’s natural for him, but not a motivation.

“That’s clear. In the last two years he won the golden boot, last year he shared it with Sadio and with Auba. That’s always important; it’s important for Sadio, and all that stuff is normal. In the end, you can only score goals when you perform well, and he did that, so that was good, and apart from that, it’s all fine.

While stating that the goals scored by the star were really good, Klopp noted that Salah could have scored more as he moves a lot on the pitch.

“If you are too focused on goals, not that they are, but if you are too focused on goals, you don’t move enough that you can be in the right situations, but the goals he scored were really good, and he had a lot to move and score the goals. That’s nice, could have scored more, that’s true, but that’s pretty much all.”

Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane rack up 250 goals

With the brace against the Seagulls, Salah has becomes the fourth Liverpool player to reach 100 goal involvements in the Premier League, with 73 goals and 27 assists in 104 appearances.

With 94 goals already for Liverpool in three seasons, Salah is followed by Mane (79) and Roberto Firmino (77). The trident attack has contributed 250 goals for the club in all competitions.

Describing the feat as exceptional, the former Borussia Dortmund manager, imagined where he would be if the players failed to play for him.

” Wow. The situation minus 250 goals!” he added.
