Kieran Trippier has revealed that his son Jacob wants to walk onto the field with PSG’s Kylian Mbappe instead of his father.
The Englishman was not entertaining much questions especially about Kylian Mbappe, the player his Newcastle boss Eddie Howe had earlier labelled ‘the best in the world’.
Trippier is no doubt a good player, however, he was not interested in the ‘starstruck’ narrative being spread in the media.
Kieran Trippier was then asked about his six-year-old son, Jacob, who will be amongst the mascots at St James’ Park on 4th October, 2023.
Speaking about his son, Kieran Trippier said: “I was having a bit of banter with him last night, and he said he wanted to walk out with Mbappe instead of me – I wasn’t really happy with that!”
“He’s obsessed with him, always watching his clips on YouTube. I said, If you get to walk out with Mbappe, you don’t look at me in the tunnel!”.
Should Trippier’s boy eventually walks out of the tunnel with Mbappe, he will be holding a gloved hand.
Reports claimed that the low temperature around St. James Park could remove skin layers, not add them and for the records, its about 13°C on Tyneside.
A video that was shared also saw Mbappe asking for gloves, with one user replying: “Kieran Trippier 1 Mbappe 0”.
Their duel is a long-awaited one and will be a fascinating sub-plot to the showpiece fixtures of this week’s Champions League group matches.
The defender handled the interview as skilfully as he will hope to handle Mbappe when he was ask these question in a pre-match conference.
Kieran Trippier said: “For me personally, it’s a challenge that I’m ready for.”
Kieran Trippier, who is 9 years older than Mbappe also added: “I’ve played against many good wingers in my career.”
“This game is no different. The Champions League is where I want to play, and you play against the best wingers in the world.”
He also went on to praise Kylian Mbappe saying: “Yeah, I think he is certainly one of the best players in the world.”
“Over the past few years, he has been incredible. But as we do every game, if it is Burnley, Paris or West Ham on Sunday, we always prepare to win the game and how we can hurt the position. This is no different.”
