Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga married former Miss Universe Andrea Martinez on June 12th, 2022 in Madrid, Spain.
David De Gea, a fellow Spaniard, commented on the post with a heart emoji.
Several Chelsea players were overjoyed by the news and celebrated with their teammates via the comment section of Kepa’s social media post.
“Oh Kepinho,” Kai Havertz wrote alongside a heart-eyes emoji.
“Kepinhaaa papi,” Jorginho wrote.
Martinez was crowned Miss Universe Spain in her birthplace in 2020.
She’s also a former basketball player who competed for her country at the U15 level.
Martinez’s biggest achievement occurred two years ago at Los Olivos Beach in Tenerife.
She won Miss Universe Spain ahead of Andrea de las Heras of Madrid and Ainhoa Portillo of Malaga, allowing her to compete in Miss Universe later in Las Vegas.
As she beamed on the podium, Miss Universe Spain 2017 Sofia del Prado presented her with the award.
Martinez afterwards expressed her astonishment and joy with her win on social media.
“I’m still not convinced that this has occurred. Miss Universe Spain is my title,” she penned then.
She’s also a baller
Martinez was an aspiring basketball player in addition to her education (she would eventually get a diploma in Business Administration and Management).
In Leon, northwest Spain, where she grew up, she was a shining star in high school.
She eventually went on to represent the Castilla y Leon district team, competing in youth competitions all throughout the country.
In 2006, Martinez was also chosen for the Spanish U15 basketball squad.
Andrea has always been for Kepa Arrizabalaga
Andrea defended Kepa after his vital penalty miss in the Carabao Cup final 2022, urging Blues fans not to cast him as the villain on social media, saying that he was the “most hardworking, talented, and lovely guy” she’d ever encountered.
Since his arrival in English football four years ago, the £72 million flop has struggled. His Chelsea career started well, but his form deteriorated under Frank Lampard, who replaced him with Edouard Mendy in 2020.
Since then, the former Athletic goalkeeper has been Chelsea’s number two and has only appeared in cup matches.
Apart from his embarrassing cameo against Liverpool, Kepa’s form has been flawless this season, and there’s a chance he’ll still command a fair price if he departs the club at the end of the season, as expected.
