Arsenal’s new signing Kai Havertz is set to become the highest-paid player at Arsenal, ahead of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, after securing a big move from Chelsea.
He moved to Arsenal on June 28, 2023, to become the club’s first signing of the summer. Real Madrid made the last attempt to sign the German but he prefers to stay in London.
The former Chelsea attacker will pocket £331,000 in wages and £17,000,000 a year at the Emirates.
Bukayo Saka was previously the highest-paid player, taking home £300,000 weekly and £15,000,000 per year.
However, Kai Havertz could get some competition in terms of wages when the club’s complete the signing of Declan Rice from West Ham
West Ham owner David Sullivan claimed Declan Rice ignored a £200,000 per week offer from West Ham due to his desire to exit the club.
Arsenal are also in advanced talks to sign Dutch defender Jurrien Timber from Ajax. The Gunners had already agreed personal terms with the right-back.
Kai Havertz will wear his traditional number 29 and be available for the Arsenal first preseason game against Nurnberg on July 13, 2023.
Mikel Arteta reacted after Arsenal completed the signing of Kai Havertz saying ”He has great versatility and is an intelligent player. He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play.”
“We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club, and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon.”
Arsenal sporting director Edu added to Arteta statement saying ”We’re excited to bring Kai to the club and great work by everyone to get this deal complete.
“Kai Havertz is an exciting addition to our squad, who will bring great attacking quality and versatility.”
Kai Havertz spent three seasons at Chelsea, winning the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup.
He was the only goal scorer in the 2021 Champions League final against Manchester City.
Kai Havertz scored 32 goals in 139 appearances for Chelsea under four different managers.
