Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp will remain the coach of the club until June 30, 2026. The German tactician announced this via a video on Thursday, April 28, 2022.
Jurgen Klopp whose former contract with Liverpool ought to expire on June 30, 2024, signed a two-year contract extension due to how well Liverpool have been performing under his reign.
Recall that Klopp became the coach of Liverpool in 2015 when the club was struggling in the league. In his first full season, he pushed the Premier League club to the final of the Europa League but lost it to Sevilla.
After that, Jurgen Klopp built a Liverpool team that went on to play in the 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League final but lost it to Real Madrid. In the following season, he led the club to the final of the competition and beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 to win the title.
In the following season, Klopp led Liverpool to win the Premier League title. But in the 2020-2021 season, he struggled with the team and only managed to finish in the top four of the league table.
Then, some Liverpool players agitated that he should be replaced but the club’s board decided to have faith in the German tactician.
So far in the 2021-2022 season, the faith the club’s board has in Jurgen Klopp is paying off as the coach has led Liverpool to win this season’s EFL Cup. He is currently contending with Manchester City for the Premier League title; he has made it to this season’s FA Cup final and is on the verge of making it to this season’s UEFA Champions League final.

While announcing that he has extended his stay at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp said: “There’s something to announce. Like last time, some will like it, some will not like it too much. If you do not like it, stop watching now.
“I stay for another two years. And not only me! No, all my coaches as well, which is the most important actually.
“Why? is now the question… because Ulla wants to stay! As a good husband, what are you doing when your wife wants to stay? You stay. That’s not the only reason, but it’s one of the reasons.
“You know, I love our club, it’s the best place to be. I feel really, really lucky. What is it now? Six and a half years ago, FSG thought it would be a good idea to bring a German fella in, and here we are. We will stay for another two, makes it four from now on.

When Liverpool appointed Jurgen Klopp in 2015, the Premier League club offered him a three-year deal. The deal was extended in December 2019.
The 2019 contract extension was due to expire on June 30, 2024. Two years before the expiration, Klopp agreed to extend his stay until June 30, 2026.
Based on the contract Klopp signed with Liverpool in April 2022, the German coach will earn around £15 million a year according to a report by Goal.
