The manager of Liverpool football club, Jurgen Klopp has watered down the raging speculations that Sadio Mane would join Bayern Munich this summer.
During the pre-match press conference for the 2021-2022 UEFA Champions League final in Paris, reporters asked Jurgen Klopp about Mane’s potential move to Bayern Munich. The German tactician stressed that he is used to his players being linked with Bayern Munich ahead of a top game, referring to how he had to deal with Robert Lewandowski and Mario Gotze’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich ahead of the UEFA Champions League final in 2013 which Bayern won 2-1.
Immediately after the Champions League final, Mario Gotze left coach Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund for Bayern Munich. A year after, Lewandowski joined Gotze at the German Bundesliga giants.
A similar scenario is playing out ahead of the 2022 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Sadio Mane who is one of the most important players at Liverpool is heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
The latest reports claimed that Mane is close to agreeing a deal with Bayern which could be worth above £25 million despite having a season left on his contract with Liverpool.
Earlier in the week, Mane stressed that he is focused on the Champions League final while adding that he would make a special announcement after the final. Many are expecting the 30-year-old Senegalese winger who has scored 23 goals and provided five assists in 50 games in all competitions this season to announce his exit from Liverpool after the final.
But Jurgen Klopp is happy that despite the raging speculations, Mane is focused on the Champions League final which will kick off at 20:00 tonight, May 28, 2022.
Klopp said: “It’s not the first time Bayern Munich rumors come up before a big game so no problems at all. The Bayern Munich rumors, I couldn’t care less. Sadio is completely focused on the game and he knows how important it is for him and us.
“Sadio is in the shape of this life, for sure. It’s a joy to watch him training and in games. We ask him a lot and football has asked him a lot with a lot of finals.”
Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Thiago and Fabinho have resumed training ahead of the Champions League final
Ahead of the 2022 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid in Paris on Saturday, May 28, 2022, Liverpool’s duo Thiago Alcántara and Fabinho were expected not to be available due to fitness issues.
But coach Jurgen Klopp has a reason to be very excited as both players have resumed training less than 48 hours before the Champions League final. This means that just like Real Madrid, Liverpool have no major injury worry ahead of the Champions League final.
Jurgen Klopp said: “It looks good for Thiago and Fabinho. Fabinho trained yesterday and Thiago will train later today. The mood is good, very good. Really excited to be here now and get a feeling for a stadium, location and that is all good.”
