Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled himself out of the England national team’s vacant job to replace Gareth Southgate, claiming it will be “the biggest loss of the face in the history of football”.
Jurgen Klopp previously turned down the United States of America national team vacant job for his long-term break from football.
Klopp has been linked to the England national team position after Southgate left his role as the manager of the country when Spain defeated the English side in the Euro 2024 final.
Eddie Howe, Graham Potter, Mauricio Pochettino, and Thomas Tuchel have also been linked with the England national team’s vacant coaching job that needs to be filled before the start of the 2024 UEFA Nations League in September.
During his latest interview at the Congress of International Coaches in Wurzburg, Germany, the former Liverpool manager said, “At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs. No club, no country.”
“A few people must not have heard this part. And it would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if you said, I’ll make an exception for you now.”
“I’m going to do some work. I’m too young to only do padel tennis with my grandchildren. Will that be the coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. Let’s see what it will look like in a few months. Nothing is coming through at the moment.”
“Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let’s see what else there is for me.”
