Jurgen Klopp has brushed aside questions on the future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, expressing that it’s no longer his “subject”.
Klopp, who will be exiting the Reds at the end of the campaign, had a furious bust-up with Salah during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
Jurgen Klopp has worked with Mohamed Salah since July 1, 2017, when the Egyptian joined the Anfield side from AS Roma for a fee of €42 million.
The pair have had great times together winning several trophies, including; 1 Premier League title, 1 UEFA Champions League, 1 FA Cup, and 2 Carabao Cups.
Salah can rightly allude to his career growth on the coaching he has received from Jurgen Klopp over the years.
Some individuals even claim that Klopp took the side of Mohamed Salah, during his infamous fallout with teammate Sadio Mane.
Anyway, speaking during a presser ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, May 5, 2024, Klopp indicated that he and Salah have reconciled their differences.
Despite not being at his prime, Salah has still been the Reds’ most viable source of goals, and he also leads in terms of goal contributions for the club this season.
Mohamed Salah has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
Liverpool are not ready to lose him despite lucrative interests in the Egyptian from the Saudi Pro League.
The Merseyside-based club even reportedly rejected a bumper offer from a Saudi Pro League club last summer, as they felt they weren’t ready to let him go.
The Reds don’t have any player who can step up to the plate, and as such, they are worried about him potentially exiting the side in the coming months.
Jurgen Klopp on the future of Mohamed Salah at Liverpool
Speaking during the presser where he confirmed that he and Mohamed Salah are back on good terms, Klopp also gave his thoughts on the future of the former Chelsea man.
He said: “It’s not my subject anymore.
“I don’t think I should speak about it, others will decide that, especially Mo. Those decisions will be made by other people”.
Jurgen Klopp as earlier indicated will be leaving the Anfield side at the end of the campaign, and as such, he has excluded himself from the conversation surrounding the footballer’s future at the club.
Mohamed Salah has made 346 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 210 goals and providing 88 assists across all competitions.
The Egyptian is considered one of the greatest players to have ever donned the colours of Liverpool, some even classify him greater than icon Steven Gerrard, having assisted the club in winning the Premier League title during the 2019/2020 season.
It will be interesting to see where the future of Salah lies, either at Anfield or somewhere else, possibly the Saudi Pro League, whose clubs have over time indicated their interest in getting his services as aforementioned.
