As per Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between the two parties lingered for weeks before they finally settle for the contract extension.

Julian Alvarez’s initial contract with the Premier League champions tied him down to Etihad until 2027 after he joined the club last summer.

Given his brilliant spell with the club, Manchester City had reportedly made the move to renew his contract and the 23-year-old and his agent have agreed to the extension proposal.

The 2022 World Cup winner will see his earnings with the Premier League champions increase after his brilliant spell with the national team in the World Cup and the club.

Fabrizio Romano confirms the two parties have agreed to extend the five-and-a-half-year contract by one more year.

The prolific forward will now be tied down at Etihad until 2028.

Manchester City signed the youngster from River Plate in Argentina for £14m in January 2022 but he remained with his parent club River Plate on loan before joining the Premier League side in August.

He penned down a five-and-a-half-year contract with the club but has now reached an agreement to extend it by one more year.

Julian Alvarez has made 20 Premier League appearances for Manchester City this season, mostly as a substitute. Despite losing the starting berth to Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez has been prolific for Manchester City.

Born on January 31, 2000, in Calchin Cordoba, Argentina, Julian Alvarez (The Spider) is a professional footballer who plays for Premier League side Manchester City and Argentina national team as a forward.

Julian Alvarez is nicknamed “The Spider” because of his energy, dynamism, and aggressive style of play.

He started his football career with Atletico Calchin youth in 2014 before joining River Plate youth in 2016. Alvarez made his first senior club debut for River Plate in 2018. He went ahead to make 74 appearances for the club, scoring 34 goals in his four years spell before joining Manchester City in 2022.

The 23-year-old played for Argentina U-20, and U-23 teams before making his first senior debut with Argentina national team in 2021. He has won 19 caps with the Albiceleste and has scored 7 goals.
