Jose Mourinho wants a squad equipped and built to compete on high-level European club competitions and also challenge for Serie A title and Champions League spot.

After two seasons with the Serie A club, it appears the Portuguese is reportedly dissatisfied with Roma’s standing in the Serie A.

Despite a relatively low budget compared to other big Serie A clubs, Jose Mourinho led Roma to their first European crown.

He won the maiden edition of the Europa Conference League last year and took the team to the finals of the 2022/23 Europa League where they lost via shootouts to record winners Sevilla.

Mourinho’s two seasons with Roma cannot be passed as failure but there were reports he is not satisfied with the club’s standing and could possibly leave in the summer.

He was linked to a move to French Ligue 1 giants, PSG, after Christophe Galtier failed to impress PSG hierachy despite a triumphant French Ligue 1 season.

The report adds Jose Mourinho wants to stay at Roma and complete his rebuilding and strengthening of the squad for next season.

Meanwhile, interest from other Saudi Arabian clubs to sign Jose Mourinho have been reported.

Two other big clubs in the Saudi Pro League – Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr and Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad – are also lining up for Mourinho’s services.

Also on the queue is Saudi Arabia national team but he is more closely linked to Al-Hillal with talks scheduled for next week.

Jose Mourinho has led Roma to finish on the 6th position in Serie A table, a UEFA Conference League spot.

Jose Mourinho has led Roma to a sixth-place finish in Serie A this season with Europa Conference League football next season assured

With Inter Milan qualifying for the Champions League and also winning the Copa Ittalia, the seventh-placed team, Juventus, will qualify for Conference League as well while Roma qualify for the Europa League.

However, Roma’s European competition – Europa League or Conference League – is still undecided pending the outcome of Juventus appeal against their point deduction.

If Juventus’ points deduction is reversed, Roma will qualify for the Conference League but if the points deduction is not reversed, Roma will head to the Europa League.

In the Europa league final against Sevilla, Jose Mourinho missed qualification to the Champions League group stages after the shootout loss to Sevilla.

A Champions League spot for the former Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United boss would have been a big leap for the Portuguese and Roma.
