Joao Felix has revealed Manchester City star and Portugal compatriot Bernardo Silva has been asking him about a possible move to Barcelona.
Speaking on Gerard Romero’s Jijantes FC show, the Atletico Madrid loanee to Barcelona revealed Silva is interested in a move to Barcelona and has been asking him about the club, Barcelona city, including the weather conditions, and taxes. The 23-year-old used the opportunity to call on Barcelona to sign Silva as he is top player.
“Let them bring him (to Barca). Have you seen him play? He’s even better as a person. He’s from (Joao) Cancelo’s generation. Now players last until they are 35-36 years old. His sister-in-law is here, (he’s asked me) about how things are here, the weather, tax issues… I told him it’s all right for him to come. I don’t think Manchester City will make it easy. For $63 million (£50 million) I would bring him, even for €60-70 million ($65-76 million).”
Felix’s exposē on Bernardo Silva’s interest in Barcelona lifted the lid on rumors that linked Barcelona to the player. Spanish outlet Deportivo Mundo had reported Silva is interested in a move to Barcelona since last season.
However, Silva who had two years remaining on his Manchester City contract then, poured cold water on the Barcelona links as he penned down a new one-year extension with the club till 2026.
He has two years left on his deal but has a £50m release clause attached to his deal which is set to be active this summer.
Despite his contract extension with City, Silva is more likely to be a hot transfer topic this summer. However, Barcelona are less likely to trigger his £50m release clause to sign him due to the club’s financial issues.
The Culers will be forced by LaLiga Financial Fair Play Rules to sell some top players if they want to sign Silva.
