Joao Felix takes a flight to London to complete transfer on loan to Chelsea which is reportedly worth €11m with 100% salary to be covered by Chelsea.
While traveling with him on a private plane to the city, Margarida Corceiro, the Atletico Madrid player’s fiancée, posted a photo on Instagram with the message “Morning.”
This occurs shortly after the Portuguese star was captured on camera by El Chiringuito TV traveling to complete the transfer in a black Mercedes.
However, the transaction allegedly still depends on fulfilling one important need.
To surprise Manchester United and Arsenal, the struggling Blues entered the race for the Atletico attacker.
For the balance of the season, they will pay a £10 million loan fee to bring Felix, 23, to Stamford Bridge.
There is no option to make the move permanent, according to reports, and the paperwork to ratify the transfer is nearly finished.
The Spanish tabloid insists that Atletico will hold off on approving the contracts for now.
This is due to the LaLiga heavyweights demanding that Felix should extend his Wanda Metropolitano contract by an additional 12 months, until 2027, before he is permitted to go on loan.
Although the Portuguese star’s current contract only has three and a half years left on it, extending it will help Atleti balance the books.
Felix turned down offers from the Emirates and Old Trafford, therefore if he accepts the new contract, the move to Chelsea will proceed.
Because the Portuguese forward has made it plain that he no longer wants to play for the team and because keeping an unhappy player around could disturb the peace in the locker room, Atletico Madrid is eager to let him leave temporarily.
Felix moved to Atletico from Benfica in 2019 for a reported £112 million, but the former Golden Boy winner has not made the kind of improvement that many had hoped.
In 131 appearances, he has scored 34 goals, however he did help Atleti win LaLiga in 2020–21, and he was awarded the team’s player of the year the previous year.
Felix has 28 senior caps for Portugal and four goals on the international level, one of which came in the thrilling victory over Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar.
His versatility in attack makes it unclear where Graham Potter would want to use him in the Chelsea squad.
The 5ft 11ins forward could enter as a No9 and play up front alone, but he would probably prefer to play either a little deeper, a little wider, or with a strike partner.
Joao Felix
Joo Félix Sequeira, a forward for Chelsea F.C. of the English Premier League on loan from La Liga team Atlético Madrid and the Portugal national team, was born on November 10, 1999.
Initially receiving his training at Porto’s junior academy, Félix transferred to rivals Benfica in 2015.
A year after joining the latter’s reserve squad, he was promoted to the first team, where he made his debut at the age of 17.
In his first and only season with Benfica, he contributed to the team’s league championship and was recognized with the Golden Boy and Best Young Player of the Year awards in the Primeira Liga.
Félix joined Atlético Madrid in 2019 at the age of 19, for a club record transfer fee of €126 million (£113 million), making it the second-most money ever spent on a teenager and the fourth-most expensive football transfer overall. It was also the highest fee ever paid for a Portuguese player leaving the domestic league.
He contributed to the team’s 2020–21 La Liga championship, ending the club’s seven-year league title drought.
Former young international for Portugal, Joao Felix competed at the under-18, under-19, and under-21 levels.
In the 2019 UEFA Nations League Finals semifinals, he received his first senior national team cap as his country won the competition’s inaugural season on home soil.
