Joao Cancelo has taken to his social media account to hit back at critics who blasted him for showing frustration with Barca fans.
Joao Cancelo was seen in a viral video saying: “You’re so annoying, my God. You are here every day. Do I have to stop my car every day?”
The response from the Portuguese sparked criticism and a number of supporters who were unhappy with his attitude reacted harshly.
The Defender also claimed that these fans stop him everyday after training for him to sign memorabilia which they later sell.
Joao Cancelo took to his Instagram to post: “Given the stupidity that is written here in the comments I have several things to say”.
Joao Cancelo went on to add: “First they are not fans, they are 20-year-old ‘kids’ who are there every day either at the door of the training center, or when I am with my daughter in a park or out to dinner with my girlfriend.”
“Secondly, they asks for autographs on stickers or shirts and sell them later. And this is repeated every day, and always by the same people.”
“There are people who don’t know how to respect each other’s space. To the people who criticize, try to find out the reality of the situation and then comment. Because true fans will always respect. Stay safe.”
Futballnews understands that aside the love of the game, there is a business side to autograph hunting in Europe.
Joao Cancelo pointed out that a lot of signed memorabilia goes for silly money on auction sites like eBay, and these fans make profit off it.
Aside the defenders, there have been reports that some players that get to see the same people everyday get frustrated as well.
And there’s every possibility that few of these fans that are always clamoring for autographs have never seen a Barca game.
These fans even go as far as stopping these players for autograph when enjoying some lovely time with family and friends.
There are certain boundaries that need to be respected, but a lot of people disregard those boundaries.
