Manchester United loanee to Borussia Dortmund Jadon Sancho is ready to return to the club but only on one condition.
Sancho’s Manchester United fortunes were eroded in September 2023 when he clashed with his manager Erik ten Hag for dropping him from Man United Premier League clash against Arsenal for alleged indiscipline.
In a later-deleted social media post, Sancho defended himself and blasted Erik ten Hag for scapegoating him – a reaction that spelled doom to his Manchester United career.
He was rusticated from the United first team and barred from accessing first-team facilities by the Dutchman after he refused to apologize in showdown talks.
The English winger would endure four months without action, training with the Academy squad before the club opted for a temporary exit solution, loaning him to Borussia Dortmund mid-way through the campaign.
At Borussia Dortmund, Sancho has turned a corner from his Man United misfortunes. He jelled into the squad and was instrumental as the Prussians steamrollered to the final of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League where they lost to Real Madrid.
With his loan deal due to end on June 30, 2024, Sancho is expected back at United. According to The Mirror, Jadon Sancho is open to Man United return but on one condition – if Erik ten Hag leaves.
Sources close to the player reveal the 23-year-old is not ready to budge on his decision not to apologize to Erik ten Hag and is also not ready to play a peripheral role in the squad, having proved his capabilities if given a chance.
With two years left on his Manchester United, Sancho can influence his future at Manchester United but his hope to have the club part ways with ten Hag before returning will have little or no effect on the club’s decision.
Futballnews understands United are brainstorming internally over the future of Erik ten Hag after a dismal campaign with reports they are likely to sack the Dutchman.
On the future of Sancho, they are reportedly open to a permanent transfer for the English winger this summer but only at the right offer.
Borussia Dortmund are interested in a permanent move for Sancho but are curious not to be priced out of their budget by Manchester United.
