Isco of Real Madrid is said to be a major transfer target for embattled Premier League club, Arsenal, in the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 28-year-old out of favor attacking midfielder has not been on good terms with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane who feels the Spaniard is not good enough for his plans this season.

The coach has managed to feature Isco in just 9 La Liga games mostly from the bench. The midfielder has only managed to start just three La Liga games in the 2020-2021 season and he is yet to enjoy Champions League football this season.

Isco who has been playing for Real Madrid since July 2013 after his €30 million move from Malaga, is finding it difficult to keep a regular shirt at Real Madrid since 2018. However, the situation has gotten worse since Zidane returned to the club in 2019 which tempted the Spanish football star to tender his transfer request to the club despite still having two years left on his contract.

The attacking midfielder earns about €6.7 million-per-year at Real Madrid and the club is ready to let him go to cut cost since it is getting obvious that the club’s manager is no longer interested in his services.

But the Spanish giants would not let Isco leave the club for free especially during this period that the coronavirus pandemic has greatly affected the revenue of clubs. They are ready to accept a suitable bid for the attacking midfielder during the winter transfer window.

Meanwhile, there are reports that Madrid want nothing less than €60 million from any club that is interested in Isco. The asking price is way above the €20 million market value a specialist site, transfermarkt, placed on him.

Based on his current form and the fact that he is no longer an important player at Real Madrid where he won four UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cup, and two La Liga titles, his transfer market value has been experiencing a steady decrease from €90 million in 2015 to as low as €20 million in 2020.

Isco knows his time at the club is up and he has revealed that through his father, Paco Alarcon, who also serves as his agent. Alarcon said his son wants to try football in other leagues which has opened the door to a club like Arsenal that are in need of a creative player.

Arsenal are currently sitting on the 15th spot on the league table with 14 points, 4 points from the relegation zone. It is believed that one of the problems of the club that has recorded 8 league defeats, two draws, and 4 wins so far this season, is the need for a creative midfielder.

The embattled coach of the club, Mikel Arteta, believes that Isco could be the answer to the creativity Arsenal need in the midfield. But some Arsenal fans believe that the club’s out of favor Mesut Ozil can perform the creative role perfectly. Hence, Mikel’s critics believe that there is no need to bring in Isco when Ozil is still an unused creative midfielder at the club.
