Serie A giant, Inter Milan has been linked with Manchester City striker, Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine striker is currently out injured since June 22. The poacher, who sustained a knee injury during a Premier League game at the Etihad, therefore missed the remaining 12 games in all competitions at the tail head of the 2019-2020 season.
The 32-year-old, who has been with Manchester City since 2011 and is the club’s all-time highest goalscorer – the mark he hit in 2017. Apart from that, Aguero is also the Premier League 4th all-time goalscorer.
So far, he has scored 254 goals and provided 73 assists in 370 appearances for Manchester City which makes him the undisputed goalscorer at the club.
Injuries restricted his game time last season, making him to be unable to compete with the top 5 goalscorers in the Premier League last season. Out of the 24 matches he played last season, Aguero scored 16 goals and provided 4 assists.
Inter that has been reinforcing its squad will never take its eye off this kind of finisher. According to Calciomercato Inter, the Nerazzurri wants him at the San Siro.
But that won’t be this summer again as the transfer window has bee slammed shut on October 5.
According to the Italian media, the club hierarchy has done everything possible in the last transfer window to please Antonio Conte.
The Nerazzurri wants to compete with Juventus for the scudetto this time around. The Turin giant are also bidding to win the title for the 10th straight time.
Conte has been able to bring in Arturo Vidal, Aleksander Kolarov, and Achraf Hakimi. The San Siro based club also converted the loan deals of Nicolo Barella, Stefano Sensi, and Alexis Sanchez into permanent deals.
Despite having such a big squad, the Italian side is already thinking about the future and new reinforcements. This could be because Aguero is entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad.
So, taking such opportunity will be important for the Nerazurri as they can open up negotiations with him in January provided City he has not signed a new deal at the club.
Inter penciled down Sergio Aguero as Lautaro Martinez’s replacement
With the future of Lautaro Martinez looking uncertain at the club, preparing Aguero as his replacement is touted to be a good move.
It was also gathered that City is also thinking of luring Borussia Dortmund striker, Erling Haland to the club in replacement of the Argentine, who might not renew his contract. Judging by his age, he might be given just a year contract or two.
But his form after his surgery is also expected to be a huge factor in getting a new deal. The new deal as well could come with him making some sacrifice like having a wage cut as clubs continue to suffer financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Italian media reports that the Nerazurri could offer him a two-year contract, with option for a possible third year, from 7-8 million euros per season.
