Inter Milan have secured a deal with Real Betis for the signing of promising 18-year-old defender Alex Perez, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano.
Inter Milan has been diligently pursuing the signing of Perez for several weeks.
They intended to secure Perez on a season-long loan deal, allowing him to be assessed within their youth team structure. Following this trial period, there will be an option to permanently acquire Perez’s services.
Fabrizio Romano confirm Alex Perez transfer to Inter Milan
Their loan offer for the 18-year-old defender has been accepted, with Romano confirming the deal today, July 19.
The agreement is for an initial paid loan deal with a buy option of €0.5m included. Real Betis will also receive a percentage of any future resale of Perez if Inter decides to sell him.
Romano wrote on his X page: “Inter have officially signed all documents for 18-year-old defender Álex Pérez to join on loan with buy option from Real Betis.”
Meanwhile, Perez is currently in Milan and has reportedly completed his medicals after arriving in the city from Spain on Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Despite being just eighteen years old, Perez has yet to make a senior appearance for Betis.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will now have the opportunity to evaluate Perez and determine if the young defender will be a part of the senior team for the upcoming season.
However, Inter Milan’s intention is for Perez to initially play for their Primavera or Under-19 team.
Subsequently, there will be a clear pathway for him to progress into the first team over the next few years.
It remains to be seen if Perez will get the chance to showcase his talents in Serie A under Inzaghi’s guidance. Undoubtedly, Perez will have time on his side in this regard.
This move represents a significant step in Perez’s career and could potentially provide him with the opportunity to make a name for himself in one of Europe’s top leagues.
Inter Milan set to bolster their defence with Mario Hermoso’s signing
Inter Milan’s pursuit of Spanish defender Mario Hermoso may not be over just yet, as Serie A champions continue to show interest in the player. Manager Simone Inzaghi is reportedly still keen on bringing Hermoso to the club, according to reports.
Meanwhile, reports revealed that the defender has yet to agree on terms with any club despite receiving offers from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia.
It is said that the player is willing to lower his wage demands to below €5 million per season, a figure that is reportedly within Inter’s financial capabilities.
Age does not seem to be a major concern for Inter, as they view Hermoso as an ideal option to strengthen their defensive line.
Inzaghi is said to be pushing Inter’s management team to make a move for the player and convince the club’s owners, Oaktree, of the potential signing.
It remains to be seen whether Inter will be successful in their pursuit of Hermoso, but the interest in the player remains high as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
