Inter Milan Sign Dutch Midfielder Davy Klaassen From Ajax

Inter Milan have completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Davy Klaassen from Ajax on a free transfer.

Klaassen has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri, which is valid until June 30, 2025.

Confirming the arrival of Davy Klaassen to the Giuseppe Meazza stadium, Inter Milan put out a statement which reads:

“The Dutch midfielder born in 1993 arrives permanently from Ajax.

“Destiny sometimes traces fascinating paths, made of dreams and determination. The path of Davy Klaassenhe has always had a defined goal, pursued with passion and willpower.”

The Netherlands international becomes the 14th arrival to Inter Milan this summer, having signed Benjamin Pavard, Kristjan Asllani, Yann Bisseck, Yann Sommer, Davide Frattesi, and Francesco Acerbi.

Juan Cuadrado, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Thuram, Raffaele Di Gennaro, Carlos Augusto, Emil Audero, and Marko Arnautovic also joined the club this summer.

He made 46 appearances for Ajax last term, scoring 10 goals and providing 3 assists across all competitions.

The 30-year-old returned to the Dutch giants on October 5, 2020, from Werder Bremen for a fee of €11.7 million.

Davy Klaassen began his career at Ajax, before exiting the side for Everton on July 1, 2017, for a fee of €27 million.

Klaassen left the Toffees to join Werder Bremen on July 27, 2018, for a transfer fee of €13 million.

Eredivisie giants Ajax also put out a statement confirming the departure of the midfielder, and it reads:

“Ajax has reached an agreement with Davy Klaassen and Internazionale on the direct transfer of the midfielder to the Serie A club.”

Klaassen is a brilliant midfielder, who supports his team with needed goals and assists when called upon.

Inter Milan would be hoping that he can continue to eschew his brilliance at the club, as they look to compete on all fronts this season.

The 30-year-old made 321 appearances for Ajax in his two stints at the club, scoring 93 goals and providing 50 assists across all competitions.

In his first interview with Inter Milan, Davy Klaassen stated the kind of player he is, while also stressing his desire to win matches and trophies with the club.

Klaassen said: “I think I am an all-round midfield player who can help the team in attack and defense.

“I want to win a lot of games, a lot of trophies with Inter.”

Simone Inzaghi’s side have picked up two wins from two in the 2023/24 Serie A season, defeating AC Monza and Cagliari by 2-0.

The Nerazzurri finished third in the Serie A last season with 74 points from 38 league matches.

They will be aiming to wrestle the title of a star-studded Napoli side, who are unrelenting in their pursuit for more success.

Inter Milan entertain Fiorentina on Sunday, September 3, 2023, in their third game of the 2023/24 Serie A season.

They finished as finalists in the UEFA Champions League last campaign, losing the title by a lone goal to Manchester City.

However, they have improved the squad this summer, signing quality and experienced players to the team which should be beneficial during the season.

Meanwhile, Davy Klaassen has also represented the Netherlands, scoring 10 goals and providing 7 assists in 41 appearances.
