Ilkay Gundogan, a star for Manchester City, and his wife Sara sent a poignant message to the Turkish earthquake victims.
Since the catastrophic earthquake occurred on Monday morning, more than 17,000 people have died across Turkey and Syria.
The country of Turkey was home to more than 14,000 of the deceased.
Time is running out for survivors who are still being extricated from the wreckage.
Every member of the Gundogan family is contributing in some way to ease the tension and anguish in the earthquake-torn Turkey.
The midfielder’s father is on the scene in Balikesir, according to BILD, and is assisting with transportation.
He was born in Gelsenkirchen, but his Turkish parents lived in Balikesir before moving to Germany, and his father Irfan worked there.
Man City star Gundogan and his partner have contributed two trucks worth of bread to support families who have been impacted.
The midfielder for City said: “My family and I were very busy with the events.”
“Our thoughts are now with the people in the crisis areas.”
“It is essential that we all stick together now. The people depend on our help.”
“The encouragement and support we have received so far has been great!”
“We are currently trying to collect further food and material donations in the form of baby food, blankets, hygiene products and warm clothing.”
“We will then arrange for transport to Turkey in coordination with the Turkish Embassy in London.”
Sara Gundogan, his wife, continued, “We send our help to the victims of the earthquake.”
“At the moment they have no electricity and no food.”
“We sent two trucks with bread, but they need blankets, groceries and more if any of our friends or followers want to donate with us.”

Sara Arfaoui and Gundogan
The couple decided to keep their relationship private and held off on disclosing their relationship for a while.
The first person to speak up was Sara. In August of 2021, she shared a picture on Instagram of herself with Gundogan.
Later, the Manchester City player imitated her and shared a picture on his personal Instagram account.
