Ilkay Gundogan, a star for Manchester City, and his wife Sara Arfaoui have revealed they are expecting a child.
Ilkay Gundogan and his partner Sara Arfaoui announced the news on their Instagram page this week.
The caption read, “Baby Gundo, we can’t wait to meet you,” and was accompanied by a blue heart.
IIkay Gundogan is seen cradling her growing baby in the pictures of the couple. The two were dressed in black.
Additionally, IIkay Gundogan and his wife Sara uploaded a picture of themselves holding hands and kissing his wife, 27, on the forehead.
Before the Manchester City midfielder’s team’s final Premier League match of the season in May 2022, he secretly wed his gorgeous Italian spouse.
The couple then traveled to Rome to get married in May before Gundogan returned to England for Man City’s crucial match against Aston Villa last season.
The German midfielder received flak for departing for Italy only a few days before his team’s pivotal championship game.
And as a result, Arfaoui decided to publicly defend her husband by disclosing the details of their visit.
“We are married and we are thrilled about our lives,” Sara stated in a proclamation.
The 32-year-old Gundogan is well-liked by the Etihad Stadium faithful after helping the team win four Premier League championships.
Sara, however, recently sparked debate when she disparaged Manchester’s cuisine.
The Italian criticized the neighborhood eateries, saying there are no excellent restaurants in the city and that she is tired of eating “awful frozen food.”
When people learned that her husband’s manager Pep Guardiola owns a restaurant in Manchester, it led to a rather embarrassing situation.
But with Gundogan’s contract scheduled to expire after this season, Sara might soon be put out of her torment.
Gundogan will be able to speak with international teams in January about a pre-contract arrangement if he doesn’t agree to new terms at the Etihad in the coming few months.
The German midfielder, who has played 17 times in all competitions this season, was elected club captain in the summer following the departure of the Brazilian Fernandinho.
Gundogan joined the Citizens in 2016 for £ 20 million from Borussia Dortmund and has since scored 51 goals in 267 appearances. He was Pep Guardiola’s first signing as manager of Man City.
During his six years at Manchester City, he won four Premier League championships, four League Cups, and an FA Cup.
The 31-year-old remained mum on his future at the club after they won the Premier League title the previous season.
Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, and Juventus have all been mentioned as potential clubs to sign Gundogan this summer.
Gundogan gave a clue that he wanted to stay in Manchester City for a few more years. By saying, “We will sit down together in due time and exchange our views and plans, and then we will see what comes out of it.”
