Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba has promised to always fight for the club, adding that he is 1000 percent committed.
The statement is coming on the back heel of the recent comment made by his agent, Mina Raiola about his future at the club. The big agent had claimed that the Frenchman is done at the club, urging United to sell him in January or next summer to get some funds on him than losing him as a free agent in 2022.
Pogba, who played 90m minutes in the Manchester derby that ended goalless has not helped Manchester United to mount a title challenge since rejoining from Juventus in 2016.
To clear the air about his input in the team, the midfielder said via his Instagram page that “all is clear” between himself and Manchester United and insists he is “1,000% involved”.
“I’ve always fought and will always fight for United, my team-mates and the fans.
“Bla bla is not important. The future is far, today is what matters and I am 1,000% involved! Always strong together. All has been clear between the club and myself and that will never change,” the 27-year-old said.
Despite being a huge talent, since his return to the team from Juve in 2016 – a move that cost the Red Devils £89m, Pogba has not lived up to expectations.
He has scored 35 goals in 172 games and has not won a trophy with the club since the 2016-17 EFL Cup and Europa League.
Is Pogba really 1000 percent committed to the cause at Manchester United?
Pogba may say he is 1,000 percent committed to Manchester United but has refused to comment on his future. All he need to do in affirming his commitment is to deny comments made by his agent.
This will no doubt affect his game and the trust of United fans in him. Such a statement further put him under intense scrutiny.
Pogba’s contract at United runs out in June 2022. From the look of things, he doesn’t appear ready to sign an extension. So far this season, he has fetured in nine Premier League matches, starting only six as he still struggles to fulfill his promise at the club.
All Pogba needs to do is to at least concentrate on his game and help United fight for a title. At least securing a title with the team and leaving later will help his reputation and other clubs interested will appreciate his professionalism.
To have a good dressing room, Pogba needs to also raise his game and inspire his fellow team that he is not leaving any time soon. At the rate at which he is playing, he plays for United like an average midfielder, which is a contrast to what is seen during his performance with the French national team.
