Spanish left-back, Angelino has expressed delight in rejoining RB Leipzig for another season from Manchester City.

The 23-year-old Spaniard returned to Die Roten Bullen for 2020/21 with an option to buy on an additional four-year deal.

“I’m delighted to be staying in Leipzig and that we carry on our journey together. My first six months with RBL have been amazing; I got lots of game time straightaway and I really like the coach and the team’s approach. We also had really successful Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns. I’m very much looking forward to the future and lots more success,” he said after singing the deal.

Angelino excited to be back at RB Leipzig

During his six month stint last season, Angelino helped Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals. He also scored one goal and created five assists in 18 competitive appearances for the Bundesliga club.

“Our flying full-back is staying at Leipzig! Die Roten Bullen have agreed to extend Angeliño’s loan from Manchester City by a further year, keeping him at the club until at least summer 2021. The club has also secured an option to buy the Spaniard on a four-year deal until 2025.

“The full-back initially arrived on loan from City in January 2020 and immediately slotted into the team and Julian Nagelsmann’s system. The 23-year-old made 18 competitive appearances last season – 16 of which were the full 90 minutes – providing five assists and also scoring a goal in the 5-0 win at Schalke.

“We’re looking forward to spending at least one more season together , Angel!,” the club statement reads.

Here is the transfer details of Angelino to RB Leipzig

Angelino played an important role in the club since joining them in January. He played the full 90 minutes in all four of RBL’s Champions League knockout games in 2019/20.

“Angel hasn’t needed much time to settle in with us and he’s understood our brand of football from the start. He did really well in the Rückrunde and also helped us achieve our goals in the Champions League. He’s made a great impact with us. That’s why we’re so pleased that he’ll be wearing an RB Leipzig shirt for at least another season,” Sporting director Markus Krösche said.

Angelino signs one year loan deal with RB Leipzig

According to reports, the season-long loan will include an appearance-based obligation to buy for an €18 million (£16m/$21m) fee.

All he needs to do to secure a permanent move to the club is 12 appearances. Five of those 12 must come in the second half of the season. Once the conditions are met, Leipzig would land the Spaniard on a four-year deal until 2025.

Angelino moved to Man City’s youth setup in 2013. He had been earlier sent out on loan to New York City FC, Girona, Mallorca, NAC Breda and PSV.
