Do you know Sir Alex Ferguson was on the brink of joining Tottenham Hotspur instead of Manchester United if not for his wife Lady Gathy.

Ferguson reportedly met with Tottenham Chiefs in 1984 and had reached a verbal agreement to join the club as new manager before a last-minute change of heart due to Lady Cathy’s intervention.

Lady Cathy reportedly talked back his husband from joining Tottenham Hotspur simply because she did not want to live in London.

Ferguson had to ditch the plan to move to White Hart Lane as manager simply because Cathy did want to move in with him and and live there.

Two years later, Manchester United came calling and Sir Alex Ferguson accepted the deal because Cathy gave the nod this time.

After replacing Ron Atkinson as new Manchester United manager in 1986 due to Lady Cathy’s intervention, the rest was history.

Also, Lady Cathy talked back Sir Alex Ferguson from a planned premature retirement in 2002 and has been credited by the Scott on several occasions for the immense success he recorded at Manchester United.

Ferguson got married to Lady Cathy in 1966. They have three children; Mark Ferguson, 55, and twin sons, Jason And Darren Ferguson, 51.
