Nottingham Forest of the English Premier League set a market record by adding 21 players during the 2022 summer transfer window.
With their total additions of more than 20 players in one window, Nottingham Forest shattered the previous Premier League transfer record as the summer 2022 transfer window ended in the late hours of Thursday, September 1, 2022.
On the final day of the Premier League transfer window, Nottingham Forest accomplished their 21st Premier League acquisition. The previous record, which was held by Dundee United in the window of 2000 and Livingston in the window of 2001, was a total of 19 signings in one window.
On September 1, the summer transfer window closed. With the addition of 21, Premier League team Nottingham Forest set a new record for the most players acquired in a single transfer window. Forest, who returned to the league after a 23-year sabbatical, appears committed to fighting for survival.
The team has acquired players like Jesse Lingard from Manchester United and Renan Lodi from Atletico Madrid.
Morgan Gibbs-White, a 22-year-old star for Wolverhampton Wanderers, was their most expensive acquisition of the season, at least for the time being. He cost them 26.5 million pounds.
On the day of the deadline for transfers on Thursday, the newly promoted team finalized deals for defender Willy Boly of Wolverhampton Wanderers, winger Josh Bowler of Blackpool (who was loaned to Olympiakos in Greece), and defender Loic Bade on loan from Rennes.
According to Transfermarkt, Crystal Palace’s 17 signings during the summer of 2013 set the previous Premier League record for the most signings in a single transfer window.
Forest, who advanced to the Championship playoffs, has invested around 150 million pounds in repurposing its squad.
Jesse Lingard of England, who arrived on a free transfer, goalkeeper Dean Henderson, and left defender Renan Lodi, who joined on loans from Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, are among the other notable newcomers.
The previous British record of 19 signings, which was shared by Dundee United in the summer of 2000 and Livingston in 2001, has now been eclipsed by Forest. The previous Premier League record was held by Crystal Palace in the summer of 2013 when they made 17 acquisitions. The Eagles increased their roster by five more players during the winter transfer window, bringing their season-long total to 22.
The 21 new signings are as follows:
Morgan Gibbs-White, Emmanuel Dennis, Taiwo Awoniyi, Neco Williams, Orel Mangala, Remo Freuler, Moussa Niakhaté, Omar Richards, Brandon Aguilera, Lewis O’Brien, Giulian Biancone, Harry Toffolo, Hwang Ui-jo, Cheikhou Kouyaté, Jesse Lingard, Wayne Hennessey, Dean Henderson, Renan Lodi, Josh Bowler, Willy Boly, Loic Bade
The wing-backs are crucial for Forest’s 3-4-3 shape, therefore Cooper made sure to replace Djed Spence with Neco Williams in a £17 million trade from Liverpool. Omar Richards’ injury is expected to force Harry Toffolo and Renan Lodi into competition for a berth in the first squad on the left wing.
So far in the Premier League, the team has defeated West Ham, tied Everton, and lost the rest of its games. Forest is currently ranked 15th in the Premier League with four points from their first five games.
