For weeks there has been unsettlement at Manchester United and now with former United capatain Ashley young gone, Ole is task with finding a replacement. Many believe naturally that De Gea or Mata would take over from Young. In a shocking surprise Ole opted for someone who has been with the club for just six months. Boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that Harry Maguire will be the club’s new full-time captain. Many fans were taken aback by this new revelation and questioned the Clubs choice of action.
The England defender who joined the club for a record fee after leaving Leicester, has been handed the armband by Solskjaer and will replace Ashley Young. Despite joining just six months ago in a record-breaking £80million move from Leicester it seems Maguire seems to be the man for the job, that is, for Ole of course.
Young had been named United skipper at the start of the season but is expected to leave the club to join Inter Milan this month. The 34-year-old has already agreed to join the Serie A side in a £1.5million move and is set for a medical on Friday.
With Young frequently out of the side, Maguire had effectively been sharing the responsibility with him this season and will now take over once his departure is finalised.
