Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur reportedly held talks with Liverpool over a shocking transfer to Anfield.
The Anfield Wrap podcast claimed that the England captain has been identified as a potential successor to Bayern Munich’s bound Sadio Mané, who is due to leave Anfield this summer.
Mané has been linked with a move away from Liverpool, six years after joining the club from Southampton. The Senegalese has won everything during his time in Merseyside and will leave at the age of 30 with only a year left on his current deal.
Since the advent of Luis Diaz as Liverpool’s primary left-winger, Mané has played as a No.9. Kane would not only bring a more natural touch to the position but could also offer similar traits as Mane in many respects.
Harry Kane is skilled at pushing and drifting off the frontline on Antonio Conte’s side to provide space for Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski on either side of him, despite being a fantastic finisher himself. If Jurgen Klopp signs the England player, he would certainly do the same job in Liverpool’s starting lineup.
However, according to the man himself, he is content in north London.
“Antonio is a really good manager and I’m really enjoying working with him,” the striker exclusively told FFT this month. “He just brings a real passion, energy, a real enthusiasm to training and games, and just makes you want to work. You want to work hard for him, you want to run for him.
“Jimmy Greaves was an amazing player for club and country – he scored an incredible amount of goals in a short amount of games. It’s something to try to achieve. I’ve still got a few more to go, but of course, it’d be great to be Spurs’ all-time record goalscorer.”
Kane is valued at £90 million by Transfermarkt.
After losing to Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp stated that his team would not give up on their goal of stopping Manchester City from winning the Premier League.
Mohamed Salah is a key option for Real Madrid after missing out on Kylian Mbappe, but Liverpool are also making moves this transfer window, reportedly pursuing a deal for Matthijs de Ligt and considering offers for one more player.
