Bayer Leverkusen right wing-back Jeremy Frimpong aimed stray bullets at Premier League Club, Arsenal, while celebrating Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga title win with Granit Xhaka.

Leverkusen aced the German championships for the first time in the club’s history after they romped to a 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen in Bundesliga matchday 29 at the BayArena.

The win saw the invincible Xabi Alonso-led team reopen a gaping 16-point lead on top of the table with just five matches left to the end of the season.

Hence, they were crowned Bundesliga champions, ending Bayern Munich’s stranglehold on the German topflight.

It was a celebration galore as the referee blew the final whistle after the match. Hordes of Bayer Leverkusen fans, donning the black and red ribbons and flags, invaded the stadium to celebrate a historic milestone in the club’s history.

Away from the hysteria on the pitch, Bayer Leverkusen players rocked the celebrations in style inside the dressing room.

Dutch defender, playing as an attacking right-back for Leverkusen, Jeremy Frimpong, took his celebrations to new levels.

The 23-year-old threw a jibe at Premier League Club, Arsenal, while celebrating the triumph with his teammate and former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka.

In viral footage shared on his Instagram story, Frimpong held onto Granit Xhaka and screamed at the top of his voice in his live video, “You won it here! You won it here!!”

Thoughtful and shrewd football fans could easily twig the import of Jeremy Frimpong’s comments. The Dutch was referring to Arsenal’s dragging trophy drought that saw Xhaka bereft of major silverware, particularly, the Premier title while playing for the club.

Before leaving to Bayer Leverkusen last summer, Granit Xhaka spent seven seasons with Arsenal from 2016 to 2023. He left the Gunners as the club’s skipper and helped the club win two FA Cups and 2 Community Shields in 2017 and 2020.

However, he shared in the club’s 19-year deadlock without the Premier League title. 10 months into his move to Bayer Leverkusen, the Swiss midfielder has won the Bundesliga topflight – a feat he could not realize during his seven-year stint with Arsenal.

Ironically, Jeremy Frimpong’s jibe came the same day Arsenal stumbled on the Premier League title race with a shock 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa while their former player (Granit Xhaka) was celebrating Bundesliga triumph with teammates in Germany.
