Graham Potter may soon be back to the dugout with a juicy national team offer reportedly on the table.
The former Chelsea manager has been on a sabbatical since he lost his job at Chelsea following a dismal start to 2022-23 season.
Graham Potter passed as one of the worst managers at Chelsea with the least win rate compared to his predecessors.
The last straw that broke the camel’s back was his defeat 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to Aston Villa in the Premier League which prompted his immediate dismissal.
Since losing Chelsea job, Potter has been linked to a number of clubs but close sources revealed he wasn’t in a hurry to return to football management as he wanted to take his time off before considering a return to the dugout.
Now, according to reports reaching us from The Mail, Graham Potter is set to return to football management with a national team offer on the table.
The report reveals Sweden are considering handing Potter the number one role with the country’s senior men’s national team.
He has been reortedly shortlisted among other managers to succeed indigenous boss Janne Andersson who has failed to qualify Sweden for 2024 Euros through the group stage of Euro qualifiers.
Andersson will be allowed to see through Sweden’s last two 2024 Euro qualifiers match but the hunt for his successor has commenced with the Swedish FA ready to part ways with
The secretary to Swedish FA Andre Mollerberg confirmed Janne Andersson’s succession plan with Potter on the mix of potential successors.
“You can say this, the list of names that have been sent to me or that I am reading, it is clear that he (Graham Potter) is part of that list,’ Mollerberg told Swedish channel TV4.
”We’ll see what we filter down and who is interested in this role.
”You probably have to be passionate about wanting to be the national team coach, especially given that it is different from club football.
‘You may have to be ready with certain parts,” Mollerberg said.
Potter had a largely successful managerial stint in Sweden.
He was head coach of Ostersunds from 2011 to 2018 and led the team to three promotions in five years, including winning the Swedish Cup in 2017.
