Chilean forward Alexi Sanchez, 31 joined the Red deal in a player-player swap deal that saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan move the London club Arsenal. At the time of the transfer, the Red devil fans believed they had gotten a bargain.
However, the price paid for the Chilean international has cost the club close to the same transfer fee paid for Paul Pogba from Juventus, an eye-watering £60million with just three-league goals to his name.
At the time of signing for Man Utd, his weekly wage was around £130,000. In contrast, his wage was almost triple after signing for Man Utd up to £450,000; the staggering wages was paid in expectance of the same excellent amount that turned heads and brought in goals within his four seasons at Arsenal.
Sanchez’s road to English top-flight
Alex Alejandro Sanchez Sanchez, started his career as a youth player with Chilean club Cobreloa at 17 playing 47 times and 12 goals, before moving to Italian club Udinese in 2006; but was instantly loaned out a couple of time to learn the ropes of the game at Colo-Colo and River Plate making a total of 55 appearances and nine goals. After which he was a key member at Udinese during the 2010/11 season with 95 and 20 goals.
He moved to Barcelona in a deal worth over £25 million in 2011 where he played alongside Lionel Messi and David Villa as an attacking trio, scoring 39 goals in 88 appearances, and later transferred to Arsenal after falling down the pecking order in a deal worth £40 million. Manchester United paid £39.9 million during is 1st 79 weeks, but he managed just five goals in total which cost the club a whooping £11million/goal and a cost of £28,800 for every touch on the ball.
During his 49 weeks loan spell at Inter Milan United was still paying up to £395,000 of his wage which equates to a total £19.4million paid for the 22 matches and four goals at the Italian club.
This means Man Utd have shelled out a total of £59.3 million to Alexis Sanchez, sources have also revealed that a sum of Alexis Sanchez ten million pounds was paid to the Chilean to allow him to join Inter Milan which would mean he had to take a pay cut and someone had to pay up.
However, fans are hoping now that United have been able to offload there most expensive earner, the club would be able to announce the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund.
